With Tim Walz as unpopular as he’s ever been thanks to his far-left agenda and his record of fraud continues to pile up. Republicans have the opportunity to flip the race on its head and retake the Governor’s Mansion after 20 years of Democrat control. This can only happen if the MNGOP nominates a candidate who is in line with the over 1.5M Minnesotans who voted for President Trump in the recent Presidential election or the base will not turn out. MN needs a Liberty Warrior who will flip tables and end the corruption. Unfortunately, MN House Speaker Lisa Demuth has a big government, ultra-liberal voting record that will not impress grassroots conservatives in our state!

Due to Demuth's lack of grassroots support, she opted to launch her campaign at the Capitol in a press conference with insider journalists following the announcement of her campaign on social media on Sunday, Nov. 2nd evening. Speaking of the MNGOP endorsement during that event, Demuth said she "will attempt to abide by that endorsement", which is a round-about way of saying that she will not necessarily abide by the delegate vote at the 2026 MNGOP Convention.

Since becoming Speaker of the state House of Representatives, Demuth has been a total let-down for conservatives. Right at the beginning of session, Demuth temporarily handed over control of the House to leftist SOS Steve Simon and then caved to Democrats by making a deal seating Brad Tabke (54A) despite more ballots being trashed in his race than what the margin of victory was.

As the session progressed, it became clear that having Demuth as Speaker meant the usual status-quo corruption would continue in the form of unconstitutional, multi-subject, big government omnibus bills. Demuth finished the 2025 session with a pathetic score of 20.83% on A4L's scorecard, meaning that she voted to grow government and erode liberty almost 80% of the time on critical votes in the last session!

In a move that has now been criticized by fellow GOP Governor candidate Kristin Robbins, Demuth met with Tim Walz behind closed doors to negotiate the remaining omnibus budget/policy bills contributing to MN’s 2nd LARGEST budget ever. The closed door agreement led to bills that couldn’t be read until the day of, legislative leaders unanimously rejecting any and all attempts by legislators to amend legislation, and required all 14 bills be rushed through the floor on a single day. Agreed legislation that spent future surplus dollars included the abortion/Planned Parenthood funding bill, the $700M debt bill, and giving billions of tax dollars to woke universities that refuse to comply with President Trump’s Executive Orders blocking boys/men from girl’s/women's sports and locker rooms. Throwing all these bills last minute at legislators and demanding they pass it was not well-received by the GOP caucus, including Establishment puppet Walter Hudson.

The one win out of the closed door meeting between Demuth and Walz was a single-subject, stand-alone bill modifying free healthcare for illegal alien adults (or as Lisa Demuth calls them: “undocumented immigrants”). This was sold as an outright elimination of the policy by Republicans and as a win in the deal with Democrats, however as seen in previous A4L reporting, the bill did not complete the job because loopholes still exist for illegal alien adults to receive free healthcare in emergency settings.

Prior to becoming Speaker, Lisa Demuth was not a strong conservative in the legislature and had pushed all kinds of big government nonsense. From supporting straw purchase gun control as the Minority Leader to banning discrimination on the basis of race-based hairstyles to bailing out health insurance with hundreds of millions of tax dollars, Demuth has been completely out of step with the GOP base during her time in office.

Demuth earned herself the nickname Empty Suit Lisa “Kamala” Demuth thanks to how quickly she caves to the left, how she stands for nothing except advancing her own power, her failures in advancing the conservative agenda, and their similar cackles and blank stares. Minnesota was heading in the wrong direction before she became Speaker and it is still heading the wrong direction with her in power! While Demuth should be commended for standing firm against Walz’ gun control wishlist in a special session, it has only been successful because the other GOP members have also stood opposed. 

Lisa Demuth will have little credibility with conservative delegates and voters as an alternative to Walz after she and Tampon Tim were on the EXACT same page in supporting the massive, ultra-liberal, 2nd LARGEST budget in MN history during the last session. Conservatives do not want more of the same or to upgrade Demuth on the basis of racial or gender identity, conservatives want real change and leaders who will fight to shrink the size and scope of government.

Action 4 Liberty will never waiver on our mission to protect liberty for the next generation and we will never shy away from exposing politicians' true records. Republican candidates love to sound like conservative fighters during election time but when they get into office, they do nothing but capitulate to far-left Democrats. Minnesota can be turned around but it will take a conservative who can rally the liberty-loving America First base to vote. If the MNGOP nominates another wishy-washy fake conservative, the base will see through it and Democrats will continue destroying our state. A4L will continue to keep Patriots updated with the latest.
