Typically, Democrats keep their disputes internal to provide a united front against Republicans. They are much better in Minnesota at sticking together and have passed a woke, radical, Socialist, far-left agenda by doing so. In the State Senate, they were able to pass this agenda with a one vote majority (which then included burglar Nicole Mitchell). Now the same Democrats who voted in lockstep are falling apart in the final weeks of the legislative session.
While some Democrats know deep down that they are taking bad votes that nobody wants, they take the vote anyway because they see it as the easiest path to maintaining power. Politicians know that if they buck the party line, the Establishment party leadership will come after them and support their primary opponent. This is something A4L President Erik Mortensen knows well because by fighting for liberty over the RINO interests, the RINOs tried (and failed three times) to fool Republican voters into nominating Boozin’ Bob Loonan over Erik Mortensen.
As seen throughout legislative sessions in MN, there is much more variety seen in how GOP legislators vote as opposed to how Democrats vote. Democrats seem to believe that if they help Republicans amend a bill, the Democrat bill author and caucus will block your bills and amendments. This operating procedure blew up today, notably between a heated exchange between two Democrats on the Senate floor!
Democrat Senators Ron Latz (SD46) and Susan Pha (SD38) were on separate sides of the issue on a piece of legislation and this led to personal attacks being launched each way! The bill, SF1750, altered regulations surrounding Home Owner Associations. While this bill would have normally resulted in a mundane floor debate, Latz and Pha implied that the other was a liar when considering whether to accept the House's amendments to the bill! This mostly took place following Pha's speech where she contended with Latz and Judy Seeberger's (SD41) opposition. See video HERE.
Latz was looking at the legislation with a careful microscope after decades of passing unconstitutional, multi-subject, thousand page omnibus bills! Where was Ron Latz in 2024 when Democrats combined multiple omnibus bills into the Omnibus-Prime legislation totally nearly 1,500 pages! It seems he only wants to be meticulous when it comes to protecting tyrannical Home Owner Associations!
One reason Latz and Pha may be willing to let their internal political disputes be seen in the public eye is that they have nothing to lose! They are both facing left-wing primary challenges and know their days in the Capitol may be numbered!
Ron Latz was first elected to the legislature 24 years ago in 2002 and is the son of a politician who also was in the legislature. He now faces a competitive primary challenge from St. Louis city councilmember Lynette Dumalag after neither were able to claim the local party endorsement. Latz is the Chairman of the powerful Senate Judiciary Committee and has been desperately pushing radical gun control to try to save his political career. Lynette Dumalag has a long list of endorsements, which even includes one of the Representatives in his district, radical leftist Larry Kraft (46A). Latz likely also suffers with Democrats due to his support for Israel. On the campaign finance front, Dumalag had roughly $24,883 cash on hand as of Dec. 31, 2025 and Latz had roughly $107,604 cash on hand as of the same date.
Like Ron Latz’ situation, Susan Pha is also not endorsed by the local party after neither she or her Democratic opponent, leftist activist Nehemiah Garley, could reach the 60% endorsement threshold. Garley had roughly $862 cash on hand as of Dec. 31, 2025 and Pha had roughly $838 cash on hand as of the same date. Garley appears to be supported by several legislators including one of the Representatives of the district, Huldah Momanyi-Hiltsley (38A). Following the convention Momanyi-Hiltsley posted a misleading congratulations on Facebook for Garley, making many readers think he is endorsed when he isn’t! See below:

In addition to the Latz/Pha spat, Democrats saw themselves divided on another floor fight. Democrat Nick Frentz (SD18) introduced an amendment that reduced nurse staffing regulations and adjusted various spending costs in the Human Services supplemental spending bill (SF4476) authored by Democrat John Hoffman (SD34). Hoffman refused to accept the amendment and a floor vote was forced. The amendment was ultimately adopted by a vote of 38-29. The deregulation portion of this amendment was good but it also increased refugee service grants by about half a million dollars. See vote below:

A strategic conservative would utilize and exploit the Democrats’ lack of unity to its fullest extent. Democrats have ram-rodded their radical agenda through and there is finally a chink in their armor! They are divided, in conflict, and weak! Now is the time for conservatives to strike!
The GOP controls the State House and can block more corrupt spending!
They can say NO to a bonding bill with over a billion dollars worth of debt for taxpayers. They can say NO to unconstitutional, multi-subject omnibus bills. They can say NO to demands from Walz and Ellison for more money. They can say NO to funding fraud. And they can say YES to repealing radical left laws, protecting tax dollars, defunding fraud, and giving the Democrats a taste of their own medicine!
Action 4 Liberty will remain the principled, grassroots conservative group leading the liberty movement in Minnesota. We will never waiver in our mission to protect liberty and will continue to provide Patriots with liberty-based reporting that cannot be found anywhere else.
