After years of talk about Somali-native Ilhan Omar and allegations of fraud involving her, action has been taken. On Monday, Oct. 12th at 6:00 AM, Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) conducted a raid of Omar’s Washington DC house after receiving a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Dept. of Justice.

The early morning raid is considered a “pre-dawn raid”, which is typically done in the early hours of the day to minimize resistance or the destruction of evidence. According to Reuters, a person familiar with the investigation says the raid is related to alleged immigration fraud including concerns with immigration paperwork filled out by her father.

The search warrant was reportedly signed off by one of four Magistrate Judges in Washington DC including Judges G. Michael Harvey, Zia M. Faruqui, Moxila A. Upadhyaya, and Matthew J. Sharbaugh. All four judges have been reported as being Democrats, which likely indicates that the evidence against Ilhan Omar is substantial and convincing.

Former Congressional candidate A.J. Kern has fought for years to expose issues with Ilhan Omar’s citizenship status. In a recent interview on Newsmax, Kern states that she requested naturalization documentation for Ilhan Omar’s father and received a "certificate of nonexistence of record" from the Dept. of Homeland Security. This would indicate that her father was not naturalized as a citizen, therefore, Ilhan Omar would not be eligible to receive derivative citizenship.

While investigations into Ilhan for immigration fraud are taking place under the Trump Administration, investigations into Ilhan for financial fraud began during the Biden Administration. In 2024, Ilhan reported that her husband possessed between $6M-$30M in assets. The following year, Ilhan reported that she and her husband had a maximum of $125,000 in shared assets, which caused many to see red flags with her financial disclosures.

President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance have each stated that they had no advance notice of this raid. At a recent rally in Youngstown, Ohio, attendees chanted in support of deporting Ilhan Omar as President Trump railed against her and other Somali fraudsters.

Despite lacking the evidence possessed by the Dept. of Justice, Democrats like Congressional Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, House Judiciary ranking member Jamie Raskin, MN Attorney General Keith Ellison, MN Democrat Chair Dick Carlbom, and others have been quick to pre-judge this probe as “weaponization”. Even Amy Klobuchar, a former prosecutor and current Governor candidate, attacked the “timing” of the raid. Shouldn’t the truth be revealed no matter how inconvenient the timing may be? Additionally, according to Ilhan’s campaign website, Klobuchar has endorsed her for reelection. See statement below:

As for MN Republicans, many have been silent. GOP U.S. Senate nominee Michele Tafoya, Governor nominee Lisa Demuth, and Attorney General nominee Ron Schutz have not said a word about the raid. On the other hand Ilhan Omar’s GOP opponent, former state patrol officer John Nagel, has published a press release about the raid and in support of Ilhan facing justice. See below:

MNGOP Chair Alex Plechash also put out a press release, however he oddly refers to President Trump as “someone else” instead of simply stating his name. Plechash points to a previous statement made by Ilhan Omar when she supported leftist prosecutors pursuing witch-hunts against Trump but refuses to acknowledge she made the statement about Trump. It may not be a surprise to all that Plechash is slighting Trump as he rushed to the microphone to oppose a resolution introduced by this article’s author to condemn the indictments against Trump at a 2023 MNGOP State Central meeting. The Council on American-Islamic Relations held a protest hours after the raid in Minneapolis to support Ilhan Omar. In a social media post, Omar said the investigation is baseless and that she will not be silenced.
