Walz' Emergency Powers Terminated

Thanks to the calls, emails and financial support of our supporters, Ending Walz' Emergency Powers became the top issue at the Capitol and early this morning, the House and Senate voted to End Governor Walz' Emergency Powers effective 11:59 PM on July 1st.

Action 4 Liberty's team made 55,000 phone calls to voters in the last couple months, putting real pressure on politicians in St Paul to End Walz' Emergency Powers. We've door knocked from Moorhead to Hibbing to Winona. Our team of young liberty professionals donned heavy coats in -30 temps in February and knocked doors through our recent heat wave. All because we were determined to End Walz' Emergency Powers.

We NEVER GAVE UP! It was clear that crony politicians in St Paul didn't care that one man took over lawmaking in our state. So we forced them to care about the issue by bringing intense pressure on them.

While we're thrilled that we achieved our first objective of Ending Walz' Emergency Powers, Gazelka and the Political Class have left us vulnerable to this all happening again

Liberty Champion Erik Mortensen introduced the Never Again Bill last March that would solve the problem of Unilateral Emergency Powers. But Gazelka REFUSED to listen to YOU and pass the bill.

So Governor Walz could reissue completely new Unilateral Emergency Powers at any time. All because Gazelka was too weak to STOP the budget before the Never Again Bill was passed into law.

Gazelka needs to learn a lesson from the Democrats. Late last night, they were able to force Senate Republicans to pass their radical Public Safety bill or else risk a partial government shutdown. This is how the ugly politics work in the final hours of a legislative session, Gazelka should have played hardball...but he didn't.

Even worse, instead of a resolution to End Walz' Emergency Powers, Gazelka stuck the language in the State Government Finance Bill that completely funds the Governor's office and gives the Attorney General a 22% pay increase!

Democrats abolished the provision in the bill that would forgive the fines paid by courageous business owners who defied the Governor's illegal orders. And Gazelka not only gave up on that provision, he helped fund the Attorney General's office that is still going after them!

Our work is not done. Action 4 Liberty is committed to pass Mort's Never Again Bill so this never happens to us again.

We hired 10 young liberty professionals this summer to come work for our growing operations. We're making serious commitments to protect liberty for the next generation.

It's crystal clear to us that we need to grow larger, expand our team and bring even more pressure against the Political Class that is destroying Minnesota.

Now it's critically important we continue building so we STOP future lockdowns, mask mandates and vaccine passports.

Jonathon Hanson, I did want to say we agree on one thing: I liked your eariler post where you call for anyone not happy with current leadership to actually get involved in REAL action and even RUN for office versus this psuedo-action on this site.

I agree. Maybe you can get Pat Nius on the ballot. lol

OK, Pat Nius, you can keep throwing the same false analogy all day – but STILL not seeing any citations from you.

Let’s focus in. In an attempt to artifically bolster the notion you and your “freedom fighters” had ANYthing to do with the powers ending, you said in part: “…the democrat’s internal polls are starting to freak them out, mostly on the crime issue but on this too.”

OK. THAT. RIGHT THERE…now, please provide a citation backing up your claim that the democrats “freaked out” over “internal polls” and decided to ‘cave in’ and remove Walz powers.

    Your move…

Jonathan Hanson, I tend to read a reference all the way through – versus stopping at the lines you wanted to repeat. I actually thought for a moment the slanted rhetoric of your post were YOUR words. The fact you’re quoting the article really shows a shining example of slanted journalism.

You article doesn’t really debunk or retract from the ones I reference. Sure, Walz had initially wanted to hold certain powers in place for another month, but when youre trying to work across the ailse, you do some give and take:

“After both chambers took a brief break, legislative leaders put the deals back together. The House rescinded the just-taken vote on the emergency powers conditions, while the Senate restored the two public safety measures.”

So, doesn’t really appear like I’m wrong about anything here.

“Walz tried to get an amendment passed that would have extended some of the powers until August, but in the end appears to have been outmaneuvered.

State Sen. Michele Benson and other Republicans at the State Capitol were gloating over the series of maneuvers overnight that left Walz without any emergency powers, thwarting his attempt to pass an amendment to keep some of those powers in place."

Looks like J Bird is wrong. It’s probably normal for him.

J Bird the paid troll is back, reaching into his teeny, tiny little bag of intellectual tricks to entertain us once again! This time it’s his tired domestic abuser routine: “So what if I knocked a few of your teeth out? It’s in the past! Get over it! You’re making a big deal out of nothing!” Of course, the stompEE usually has a different opinion on the severity of the matter than the stompER.

It’s a clumsy attempt to demoralize the political opposition, along with the claim that efforts like ours made no difference to the outcome. (Which is a lie; the democrat’s internal polls are starting to freak them out, mostly on the crime issue but on this too.) That’s what he’s paid to do.

He’s posting the same type of dimwitted tripe over on the Powerline blog, too, as “Edward Blaise”. I’d recognize his shallow, phony arguments anywhere.

While I understand that Action 4 Liberty is thrilled to see the Minnesota’s Govenor’s emergency powers end, don’t let Jake Duesenberg or anyone else fool you: They had NOTHING to do with them ending:

So it was Walz himself that helped strike a deal with legistators to end them….and even called himself the ‘happiest person in the state’ having them finally end.

So, not only is Action 4 Liberty’s work done, it was never necessary to begin with.

It’s over. Be happy and move on.

For everyone disappointed in the Republican leadership, GET INVOLVED in the primary election process. It’s too late to simply vote on general election day. We will only get better if we send better people to the ballot in the first place.

If you’re capable of standing on principle, RUN and bring your supporters to the local caucuses so you can get on the ballot!

Thank God. It’s only 15 months of unconstitutional torture late, and lacks teeth. But I’ll take it…for now. Thank you Action For Liberty. This is why I am a monthly donor and add on whenever I can.
