Property taxes are exploding in Minnesota which is making life even more unaffordable for homeowners. Instead of being rewarded for purchasing, developing, and maintaining land, property owners are being punished. In Dakota County, the county commissioners are looking to pass a MASSIVE property tax increase while inflation has made life unaffordable.

The property tax levy proposals being offered by the Dakota County Commissioners includes tax increases ranging from 13.9% to 24.3%. This would increase many homeowners taxes by hundreds of dollars annually. These tax hike plans come as property taxes are already sky-high across Minnesota. 

While Dakota County residents would like to see Commissioners’ work session and discussion of the various property tax increases from their Aug. 4th meeting, the Dakota County website does not have the video posted! Not only is the government trying to increase taxes but they aren’t even transparent about it!

Like seen in previous A4L reporting on Itasca County’s property tax hike, county commissioners will excuse their big spending by blaming Democrat-imposed unfunded mandates. While there is merit to that argument, they must also realize that they are the cause of wasteful government in their own right. Over-paid government employees, contracts given to special interests, social services fraud, misuse of funds, and other examples of county government fraud must always be fought to prevent waste, fraud, and abuse of tax dollars.

Minnesotans are fed up with high taxes. While crony politicians raise your taxes or sit on their hands and do nothing, Action 4 Liberty is fighting back!

Dakota County residents can fight against the property tax hike by attending upcoming meetings like the Commissioner work session and follow-up meeting. This will begin at 10AM on Tuesday, Aug. 18th at the Dakota County Administration Center in Hastings, conference room 3A. Government meetings should take place at times outside of normal work hours of their constituents so more people can voice their opinions, not 10AM on a Tuesday.
