Republicans used to argue that the government was the problem and its interference in the free market stifled competition. As conservatives know, competition brings prices down and the artificial influence of government rigs the system. One of the industries that the failures of government is most prevalent is healthcare insurance as Americans and Minnesotans see undeserved outrageous costs thanks to government intervention.

This is not just a Democrat issue, there is a Republican issue too! The Uniparty loves to frame bailing out healthcare companies with nicer terms like “reinsurance” so the average citizen doesn’t know what is happening. Now, RINOs in the MN House are pushing to make the socialized healthcare “reinsurance” program permanent!

RINO Tim O’Drisocoll is the sole author of HF3388 that makes the healthcare bailout program permanent. This bill does not presently have a Senate companion but if it is a GOP priority, we may see the RINOs in the Senate pounce on this.

As seen in a recent House GOP press conference, the official stance of the Republican leadership is to make a broken government program permanent! GOP Floor Leader Harry Niska (31A) specifically brought up the bill as the GOP’s way to deal with affordability with Lisa Demuth nodding along in the background. Minnesotans are struggling to make ends meet and THAT is all the GOP leadership has to offer? A socialized healthcare bailout!?!

What Republicans should be doing is passing laws to remove regulations and mandates. This would drastically cut costs and allow each individual to tailor their health insurance to their circumstance. Things like allowing truly free telemedicine, ending evil "Certificate of Need" laws that restrict healthcare services to build hospitals, add beds at medical facilities, eliminate laws that prohibit medical equipment in geographic areas without a government permission slip of "need", and allow access to healthcare across state lines.
