The MNGOP may have screwed up royally. Among all of the mistakes at the state convention, one may cause more problems for the party than others. A candidate for Governor, former Assemblies of God Pastor John Krhin, alleges that the MNGOP leaked his Social Security number during the state convention.
The MNGOP allowing the most personal, identifying information to be in the hands of the public is completely unacceptable. No candidate would ever want to be involved in a party that betrays personal trust.
Krhin competed for the Governor endorsement at the MNGOP convention and was required by the party to complete their Nominations Committee process. This included meeting with the Nominations Committee, submitting a candidate questionnaire, and submitting a background check document which required the candidate list their social security number.
The MNGOP intended to show all of the candidate questionnaires on their website accessed via a qr code. This page has since been taken down from the MNGOP website. Most individuals, including the article’s author, scanned onto the website but did not look closely at the documents. According to Krhin, his candidate questionnaire was sent alongside his background check document and the party posted both. This caused his Social Security number to be publicly accessible for a time period.
Krhin explained more details in an email to supporters, BPOU chairs, and other Republicans. See below:

A4L is not aware of how long Krhin’s Social Security number was listed on the MNGOP website or if any other candidate experienced the same issue. Krhin tells A4L that individuals within the party have apologized profusely for their screw-up. Regardless of how sorry the MNGOP may be, the damage cannot be undone. Krhin’s finances and other personal assets or otherwise have been put at risk. If identity theft or other crime has not been committed against him yet does not mean it cannot happen, a criminal could have gotten his social security number and is waiting for an opportune time to pounce.
MNGOP Chair Alex Plechash and others in party leadership must resolve this issue and ensure that it never happens again. The party continues to find new ways to lose trust with grassroots conservatives and this serves as yet another example of a self-imposed problem by the MNGOP.
Krhin has signed A4L's Never Again Pledge and is running in the primary after being eliminated on the first ballot at the MNGOP convention. Though Krhin struggled to win support at the convention, many delegates loved his message, including the use of “lanterns” by delegates across the convention hall. After a horn sounded during Krhin’s speech, delegates lit their lanterns and created a beautiful display.

TO ABIDE OR NOT TO ABIDE, THAT IS THE QUESTION

In December of 2025 one of MN GOP’s top officers presented this very question to me, To Abide or Not to Abide, stating that I wouldn’t stand a chance running for Governor of MN if I chose the latter, not abiding by the GOP… pic.twitter.com/FIpFlOyC4Q
