House Committee Unanimously Bans Crypto Kiosks, Massive Attack on Currency Freedom

The Uniparty continues to find new ways to limit the personal and financial freedoms of MN citizens and they have now targeted crypto-currencies. While the value of the dollar continues to be depleted by inflation, MN legislators are pushing a ridiculous bill that makes crypto kiosks illegal (HF3642). What's next: Banning ATMs, gift cards, or any other item a scammer might use?

The use of crypto-currencies continues to grow with the expanding use of technology and the government’s fiscal irresponsibility. While some Americans prefer to use physical assets like silver and gold for the protection of their wealth, others have expanded into virtual assets with crypto-currencies such as Bitcoin, Ethereum, Dogecoin, and tens of thousands of others.

Currently, Minnesotans are able to access their digital wallets and buy/sell crypto-currencies at kiosks found in various businesses like grocery stores and gas stations. Legislators argue the bill needs to be enacted because individuals, typically the elderly, are getting scammed with phone calls and are using the kiosks to have their money stolen. Scammers will always find a new scheme and Minnesota citizens should not be punished for the actions of foreign scam call centers. See an example of a crypto kiosk below:

HF3642 is moving through the legislature and was debated on Wednesday, March 18th in the House Commerce Finance and Policy committee. During the bill’s “debate”, there was no concern expressed by any committee member for eliminating opportunities for Minnesotans to convert their dollars into crypto-currency.

The bill was introduced by its chief author, Democrat Erin Koegel (39A), and received praise from lunatic Democrat “Leigh” Finke (66A) and Republicans like the committee’s co-chair Tim O’Driscoll, who even made sure to note his total agreement with Finke's committee speech on the legislation and their shared appreciation of its bipartisanship. The bill and its Senate companion (SF3868) only had Democrat authors upon its introduction but GOP Sen. Karin Housley (SD33) and GOP Reps Bernie Perryman (14A) and Paul Novotny (30B) have been added as authors since.

The anti-crypto freedom bill then passed the House Commerce committee UNANIMOUSLY and is headed to the House floor. The following House Republicans joined Democrats in passing the anti-crypto freedom bill: Tim O’Driscoll (13B), Bernie Perryman (14A), Keith Allen (19A), Greg Davids (26B), Jeff Dotseth (11A), Josh Heintzeman (6B), Ron Kresha (10A), Max Rymer (28B), Scott Van Binsbergen (16A), and Nolan West (32A). The debate and vote for this bill can be viewed here.

The bill must be passed in both chambers and signed by Walz in order to become law. You can find and contact your legislator here to let them know exactly what you think of HF3642.

Several other states are passing or have already passed similar anti-crypto freedom legislation. Action 4 Liberty will continue providing Patriots with liberty-based reporting that cannot be found anywhere else. A4L will never waiver in our mission to protect liberty for the next generation.
