Senate RINOs Vote for Gun Control

As we are in the final weeks of the 2026 legislative session, RINOs are backstabbing the base, partnering with Democrats, and giving Minnesota more gun control.

The House GOP backstabbed the conservative base by passing two pieces of gun control. One bill (HF3762) allowed expunged (sealed) records to be used against someone purchasing, receiving, or carrying a firearm. The other bill (HF4075) adds additional implementation of stripping gun rights from individuals charged with various crimes. While nobody wants violent thugs or abusers to have firearms, these laws will eventually strip the 2nd Amendment Right of a falsely accused individual.

HF3762 had only three Representatives vote no which includes Reps Ben Davis (6A), Marj Fogleman (21B), and Drew Roach (58B). A couple of days later, 21 Republicans in the House voted no and opposed HF4075.

HF4075 was taken up by the Senate on Wednesday, April 29th. A source at the Capitol tells A4L that Senate Republicans held a contentious caucus meeting where there was deep disagreement between the pro-gun, Constitutionalist position and the RINO, big government, pro-gun control position. The source tells A4L that an amendment was discussed in the caucus and it was known that Democrat John Hoffman (SD34) would support it. If a bill is amended, it must return to the other legislative body for another vote. Since Democrats have a 34-33 majority in the Senate, Hoffman voting with Republicans would ensure an amendment’s passage if all Republicans hold strong. While Jeff Howe had an excused absence, he could have been the deciding vote. Since he can vote remotely, MN conservatives wish he would have prioritized his job.

As seen in the Senate Journal, Sen. Jim Abeler (SD35) introduced an amendment to this bill that tweaked how the legislation would be applied. The amendment failed by a tie vote of 33-33 with Hoffman joining Republicans. If the bill was amended, it would be forced to return to the House so the pressure would then go back to Demuth and House RINOs. See journal below:

6 RINOs Vote for Gun Control; Howe and Rarick Don't Vote

The gun control bill ended up passing by a vote of 40-25. Interestingly, Sen. Keri Heintzeman (SD6) voted against the bill despite her husband, Josh Heintzeman, voting for it in the House. See Senate vote below:

As seen above, the following RINO State Senators voted for gun control: Jim Abeler (SD35), Julia Coleman (SD48), Zach Duckworth (SD57), Karin Housley (SD33), Warren Limmer (SD37), and Carla Nelson (SD24). Also seen above, Jason Rarick (SD11) joined Howe in skipping out on a critical vote. He was also excused from the legislature during a certain time window and it is not clear if the vote took place during that time period.

Action 4 Liberty will never waiver in our mission to protect liberty for the next generation. Grassroots conservatives voted against gun control, not for it. Legislative Republicans are doing the opposite of what they were elected to do. A4L will continue providing Patriots with liberty-based reporting that cannot be found anywhere else.
