MNGOP Chair Alex Plechash is again on the attack against Trump-endorsed Mike Lindell with a last minute attempt to try to influence the Tuesday, August 11th primary. While the party chairman should be opposed to unendorsed candidates, Plechash has exclusively attacked Lindell in the Governor race while leaving RINO Lisa Demuth unscathed despite Demuth lying to delegates by falsely pledging to abide by the party endorsement. Now, Plechash is on the attack against Lindell on the grounds of residency concerns and is looking to MN’s crooked Secretary of State, radical leftist Steve Simon, for guidance and help.

Plechash sent a letter to Steve Simon concerning if Mike Lindell has met the residency requirement to run for Governor and asked the SOS to respond to a couple of questions. Article 5, Section 2 of the Minnesota State Constitution says, among other things, that a candidate must reside in Minnesota for at least one year prior to the election date. This means a candidate must have been a resident as of Nov. 3rd, 2025 to be eligible to run for Governor in the 2026 election.

As Mike Lindell has publicly talked about, he briefly lived in Texas for about one year between 2024 and 2025 but has come back because he wants to fight to save Minnesota. 

While most GOP party officials would be happy to have a Republican voter return to their swing state, Plechash has made an issue of it. Plechash points to two legal matters that Lindell was subject to from January and November 2025. Since it is irrelevant that Lindell lived in Texas in January 2025, that can be left to the side. As seen in a copy of the lawsuit obtained by the Colorado Newsline, the November 2025 lawsuit does not confirm where Lindell lived at the time, it simply says that the person suing him believed that Lindell lived in Texas. This allegation does not become fact because Plechash sees it as politically advantageous.

Lindell has provided Action 4 Liberty with pay-stubs that show that he resided in Excelsior, MN and was paying Minnesota taxes in August 2025. Additionally, the Star Tribune reported that they received a copy of Mike Lindell’s temporary drivers license, which listed an Excelsior address, that was issued in September 2025.

This would mean that Mike Lindell is constitutionally eligible to run for Governor, clearing the year long residency requirement by a few months.

Action 4 Liberty contacted the SOS office on 8/4/26 to see if they have responded to Plechash’s letter. A4L was told that they have not done so yet. We then asked that his response be made public once it is made. 

Plechash, inadvertently or not, has propped up radical leftist Steve Simon to be the arbiter of truth. Simon is up for reelection this year and will face either MNGOP-endorsed Tad Jude or businesswoman and former MNGOP officer Wendy Phillips. Plechash is legitimizing Steve Simon when Republicans should be diminishing his credibility if they want to defeat him in November. 

Alex Plechash has issued continued attacks against the candidate who appears to be leading the GOP field for Governor. Like the leftist media, Plechash has not uttered one negative word about RINO Lisa Demuth and even provided cover for her to run in the primary. Plechash has also slighted Kendall Qualls during this race, the party’s endorsed candidate for Governor.

If Mike Lindell or Kendall Qualls is the Republican nominee, Alex Plechash appears incapable of chairing the MNGOP and leading them to victory.
