It is not only the radical left that supports woke laws to socially engineer society, the RINOs are in on it too! While foster homes save children from unfortunate living circumstances and provide stability to the child’s life, the legislature is seeking to add an element of nonsense and instability. RINO Jim Abeler (SD35) is a Senate co-author for SF3154 / HF3024 which mandates that operators of foster homes must affirm and support a child’s sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. The bill is dubbed a “Bill of Rights” for foster youth and covers several areas of law. Average Minnesotans of course want to ensure that children in foster homes are given a suitable standard of living. Some provisions of the bill serve the purpose of preventing abuse, neglect, and other forms of failed guardianship. Besides noncontroversial measures in the bill, the chief concern among conservatives is mandating foster homes affirm cases of transgender mental illness. This is not the first time RINO Jim Abeler has supported woke transgenderism in public policy. In 2023, Abeler voted alongside Democrats and RINOs for HF197, the so-called “Equal Rights Amendment”, which supports biological males entering female locker rooms, restrooms, sports, and other spaces. Abeler voted to add the woke amendment to Minnesota’s State Constitution even after Democrats knowingly excluded religious liberty from the legislation. See vote below:

It is bad enough to confuse children with nonsensical pronouns but demanding foster homes support children transitioning from their gender is abusive. Legislation that supporters argue is intended to prevent child abuse is actually mandating child abuse. Children deserve fully-intact bodies and should not be pressured into doing surgeries, operations, or drugs designed to alter their natural being since they cannot consent to such actions.

This bill proves that liberals would rather kids have nowhere to go than a foster home operated by conservatives.

As seen in A4L Scorecards, Jim Abeler is constantly caving to the Left and backstabbing conservatives. Abeler pretends Democrats are good faith actors while they screw over the entire state.

As heard from the testimony against this bill in the House Children and Families Committee from True North Legal’s Renee Carlson, similar laws passed in Massachusetts and Virginia were struck down in court and the states had to remove these mandates. RINO Committee co-chair Nolan West (32A) argued he didn’t want the law to be struck down in court and wanted to keep as much of the bill as possible, with him even saying that not everything needs to be removed from the woke transgender section! 

Rep. Joe McDonald (29A) expressed concern with another section of the bill that allows foster children to refuse to participate in church services. McDonald’s concern was based on unruly children being very uncooperative. Democrats are happy to place burdens onto foster parents that limit their ability to practice religion so Democrats are unwilling to change the bill language. The bill was laid on the table in the House Committee and A4L will continue to track it throughout the legislative session. The GOP controls the House and can BLOCK the bill’s passage until the woke transgender sections and anti-religious liberty sections are deleted.
