Uniparty Pushes 2nd Largest Budget in MN History

Sometimes things aren’t as simple as Republican vs. Democrat, sometimes things are the Establishment vs. We the People. Establishment party leaders all on the same page pushing a big government, liberal, uniparty budget plan is always a bad sign for liberty.

On Thurs. May 15th, Tampon Timmy was joined in a budget press conference by legislative party leaders including radical Democrats Sen. Maj. leader Erin Murphy, House party leader Melissa Hortman, and RINO Speaker Lisa Demuth. The four agreed to the full budget proposal which will be passed via unconstitutional, multi-subject omnibus bills. This will be the 2nd LARGEST budget in Minnesota history and will eat into the future surplus. The agreement can be see in full below with each of their signatures at the top, see below:

In the above document, numbers in parentheses are cuts to previous spending and numbers not in parentheses are increases to previous spending. To confuse Minnesotans into not knowing exactly what they are looking at, they do not include the latest projected spending in the February 2025 economic forecast. In short, the plan makes a minor cut to the overall budget passed under the Democrat trifecta but fully maintains the bloated, big government controlled by radical leftists like Walz and ANTIFA Keith Ellison. As seen below, the House entered negotiations asking for less cuts in government than the radical Dems in the Senate or even Walz!

The budget plan totals around $66.4B however we will not know the real total until budget bills are out of conf. committees. Sadly, $66.4B is MORE than what Walz was originally pushing! As seen in our previous reporting, Walz was pushing for a $66.3B budget and the House RINOs pushed a budget around $66.6B. How could Republican negotiations lead to MORE spending?!?

This uniparty deal outlines the budgets for each department that will be finalized in Democrat-controlled joint conference committees. Currently 17 bills sit in different conf. committees with 14 of them being budget bills that must pass to prevent a government shutdown. The majority of these bills are Democrat bills with only Dem authors. Action 4 Liberty has reported on how Republicans could use their leverage to force a shutdown and renegotiate a more conservative, small government plan. We have also reported on several of these bills including the budget increases for Ellison and the LGBTQIA2S+ Council, the unconstitutional education bill, and the abortion & Planned Parenthood funding Health bill.

RINOs are selling this plan as the largest budget cut in Minnesota history, which only tells half of the story. When Democrats had total trifecta control in 2023 and passed a $71B budget which was about a $19B growth in government. Pre-covid spending levels would mean a return to (at least) a $52B budget. Having the largest cut means nothing if the budget is still the 2nd largest in MN history, only behind the budget passed in 2023. For an analogy, the Dems flooded Minnesota’s basement with 19 feet of water and the GOP is bragging that the basement will now only be flooded with 14 feet of water! See below:

RINOs will defend Lisa Demuth’s incompetent negotiation skills and argue that this was the best deal that they could get. However, with 67 votes in the House the GOP can block any and all legislation which means they do not have to concede negotiations until real wins for liberty are attained such as single subject spending bills, pre-covid spending levels, and repeal radical left Democrat trifecta-era policies. Demuth has earned her nickname of empty suit Lisa ‘Kamala’ Demuth as she stands side by side with Walz and Democrats to push a plan that screws over our state. Sources at the Capitol tell A4L that Demuth left the GOP caucus in the dark on this deal.

Notably absent from the Walz press conference was GOP Senate leader Mark Johnson (SD1). While it is a good sign that he did not sign onto this deal or attend the press conference, Johnson is protected by being in the minority in the Senate, meaning that Senate Dems will almost never need GOP votes to pass legislation. If the GOP was in the Majority in the Senate, it is almost a sure thing that Johnson would have signed onto whatever. Politicians suck up to power and love to feel important. Johnson and Demuth were even out fishing with Tyrant Tim Walz and Democrat leaders for the state’s fishing opener! See below:

A government shutdown is looming and not for the reasons A4L previously advocated for. The legislature is set to adjourn on Monday, May 19th yet the vast majority of the state government budgets are not passed. In one sense, all legislative leaders could take the blame for the likely incoming government shutdown because they always have the votes to pass establishment garbage omnibus bills and would have failed to get the budget done in accordance with the timeline established in law. A special session will likely be scheduled quickly and the uniparty will push through all of the massive budget bills.

Action 4 Liberty will continue to expose the corruption of our state and stand for the cause of a Constitutional limited government. Radical big government Democrat budgets have grown the government and chased taxpayers out of the state. RINOs cannot continue to cave to the left and must finally assert themselves by flexing their power in the House. The only path to saving Minnesota is pre-covid spending levels, single subject spending bills, and repealing radical Democrat policies.
