Walz Wastes $430K of Tax Dollars on Lawyers for Congress Testimony

Not only are Minnesota citizens suffering the consequences of Walz’ socialist, pro-illegal alien policies in our state but taxpayers will also be burdened with covering $430K for Walz’ legal expenses to prepare him to testify to Congress!

Last month, Walz appeared in front of the U.S. House Oversight Committee to testify in Congress alongside two other Democrat Governors who prioritize illegal aliens over their own citizens, J.B. Pritzker of Illinois and  Kathy Hochul of New York.

The Star Tribune reported Wednesday (July 9th, 2025) that Walz was initially given legal counsel by ANTIFA Keith Ellison’s Attorney General office, however, the AG office passed the buck and recommended Walz hire outside counsel. Even MN’s radical left, Socialist Attorney General is afraid to legally defend Minnesota’s insane policies!

Global law firm K&L Gates was hired and invoices show that they were paid about $516 per hour or over $61K per hour of the congressional hearing! One has to wonder if all the legal work leading up to the sloppy, weak Walz testimony performance tap-dancing around the truth was really worth $430K of taxpayer dollars.

Walz’ excuses are beginning to pile in as news is spreading. Walz told reporters Wednesday (July 9th, 2025) that the congressional testimony “certainly proved that there was nothing there other than using it as grandstanding”, which is exactly what Walz did in front of the Oversight Committee. That said, much of the GOP “oversight” were simply opportunities for performative theatrics by RINOs. While many saw Minnesota’s RINO delegation (Emmer, Fischbach, and Stauber) go after Walz in the committee, it was all for show. Interestingly, all three MN RINO Congressmen do not sit on the Oversight Committee and were simply there to score political points. Walz’ spokesman, Teddy Tschann, said to the Star Tribune “What’s most frustrating is that Tom Emmer and Pete Stauber planned this spectacle knowing what it would cost and went through with it anyway.” While Emmer, Fischbach, and Stauber certainly can’t be blamed for Walz’ poor management of tax dollars, it is clear that Walz’ testimony accomplished nothing policy wise.

On the day of the June 12th Congressional hearing Walz testified at, MN’s budget agency sent a letter to a state legislative commission asking it to approve a $430K transfer from a general fund account to Walz’ office to cover the legal expenses. It is not immediately clear if the expenses were covered or which legislative commission received this request. GOP legislators, especially with control of the state House Speakership, must have this request rejected and force Walz and Ellison to eat the costs with their already appropriated, massive budgets.

RINO state Rep. Jim Nash (48A) told the Star Tribune that Ellison should’ve helped more to cover costs. Nash was one of the crooked politicians cheerleading the bill that gave ANTIFA Keith Ellison an increased budget and now he wants to play hard-ball? Most conservatives have come to grip with the reality that a lot of GOP politicians talk tough but do the exact opposite when it comes time to vote. Nash must lead the charge to reject the tax dollar request and tell Walz that his office must use already appropriated funds to cover his legal scam.

The state GOP legislators must demand that the legislative commissions refuses to fund Walz’ FAILED Congressional testimony. Taxpayer dollars should not be spent to the tunes of hundreds of thousands just to get answers out of politicians! The corruption has to end and Walz is starting to fall apart. The very fact that the Star Tribune has run several negative stories on Walz and a prospective third Governor term may signal that the Walz era may be over sooner than expected.

A4L will continue to lead the Minnesota grassroots conservative movement and fight to end the corruption! All swamp creatures must be held accountable!
