Minnesota property taxes are out of control due to reckless spending by crony politicians. Big government RINOs and leftists run in nonpartisan county commissioner races and then impose high taxes on the citizens of their community. This is happening statewide and a clear example comes in Dakota County as massive property taxes appear to be incoming.

On Sept. 22nd, the Dakota County Commissioners voted to set the maximum property tax increase for their 2027 levy at 18.5% ($34,085,522) in a 5-2 vote. The two commissioners to vote “No” were Mary Liz Holberg and Liz Workman while all other commissioners agreed to the targeted increase. The video of the meeting can be seen here.

This vote does not permanently set a property tax increase so citizens can still fight to block the measure. What this vote does show is that the majority of Dakota County Commissioners are looking for ways to grow government and increase taxes. As seen in previous A4L reporting, Dakota County was planning to increase property taxes by at least 13.9% and has chosen to select a big increase of 18.5%.

The final property tax levy will be finalized in December and Minnesota’s Dept. of Revenue will report the proposed property tax increases for all MN counties in early to mid October. 

Dakota County is just one of 87 counties where taxpayers will be wasting away more of their hard-earned dollars funding a government that is way too big. The property tax increases will happen across Minnesota and Action 4 Liberty will be leading the fight.
