Drazkowski, Munson Introduce Bill to Strip Governor Walz of Powers

Rep Steve Drazkowski (R-Mazeppa) introduced a joint resolution today that would terminate Governor Walz' Emergency Powers. Walz just announced the extension of his emergency powers, citing authority granted in State Statute 12.31 Subd. 2. That chapter of the law also states that a majority of both the House and Senate can remove the Governor's emergency powers, which is the purpose of Drazkowski's resolution.

Joining him on the resolution are members from the New House Republican Caucus: Reps Jeremy Munson, Cal Bahr and Tim Miller.  Language of the resolution is posted here. Here's what the resolution says:

BE IT RESOLVED by the House of Representatives of the State of Minnesota, the Senate concurring, that the legislature exercises its authority under Minnesota Statutes, section 12.31, subdivision 2, paragraph (b), terminating the peacetime emergency declared under Executive Order 20-01.

The Minnesota House is scheduled to convene on Tuesday, April 14th at noon for a floor session. It's unlikely that the Democrat controlled chamber would move the bill, but we expect to see a motion made by Rep Drazkowski on the floor.

Action 4 Liberty supports this resolution and calls for an end to Walz' emergency powers. We need to open Minnesota's economy back up in a safe and reasonable way.

URGENT: Contact your legislator and tell them to support Drazkowski's resolution to terminate Governor Walz' Emergency Powers.

Small businesses and retailers are ESSENTIAL. They have every ability to responsibly put social distancing or take out orders like the restaurants are doing into place.
We’re all being forced into the same walmarts, Cubs, aldi’s, and targets filled with crowds and extremely long lines, while people are buying non essentials and just walking around.
Put stronger guidelines on the big businesses capitalizing on the pandemic, and give small businesses a chance to survive!
Governor Waltz shouldn’t be making all these choices by himself.
    Get a committee or something.

A lot of comments out there. Open the ‘out state’ counties, rest stops and truck stops. This should not have shut down the world, but the leftists want catastrophe at every chance. Now they can play the blame game, blame, blame. Hate and blame. They have nothing else. No real solutions.

All of you that are saying open the state just signed everyones death certs. If people are sick peopor are not going to stay home they are going to continue to do the same crap they have been by going out and doing everything. You all should be ashamed of yourselves. I’m going stir crazy too but I have found ways to deal. Yes business need profit but they also need customers and if all their customers have covid 19 and they give it to the staff then the staff gives it to their families and their families pass it on also… Why can’t you people see this? Apperently you all have your heads in the sand.

While I am compassionate toward the elderly and immune compromised, and I wish that NO one would get sick with Coronavirus, we MUST also consider the millions of people suffering adverse effects of extreme shut down measures. Please open our state up for business soon! Freedom over fear.🇺🇸

Businesses are opening, just not quick enough for people. Granted I wish it was moving along quicker, but it is important to have guidelines in place to keep the risk of spreading down. I don’t see this as a way of moving things along quicker. Probably slow it. Maybe some good suggestions on how to get places open which include guidelines and requirements for appropriate social distancing, hygiene, and other ideas that could help.

I agree that we have to get on with our lives. If you are ill stay home and if you are an at risk person stay home. I think now that this can of worms have been opened the governor keeps extending it because he is buying time to figure out how to open up the state because he doesn’t have any idea.

Walz needs to GO….. He is not good for Minnesota. I am an at-risk person with heart condition- Minnesota needs to open back up… I believe I have enough common sense to stay home (because I could be at risk.) Let people get back to their lives NOW before you yourself Mr. Tim Walz before your responsible for more deaths then the coronavirus

We need to stop this insanity and ruin of our economy over a flu that is not proving to be anywhere ear as deadly as expected but that is doing more damage by destroying Minnesotans ability to pay their Bill’s or get a proper education for their children!! Distance learning is stressing parents out and on top of that they are worried about paying their Bill’s! Teenagers and seniors mainly are getting depressed and suicide rates are going to going up like no other time in history due to a virus that has proven to be over harmless to over 98% of humanity and we are killing more people off at this point by destroying their livelihood than would have happened if we would have let the virus run its course and create natural hard immunity and now is being used for political gain. Shame on any of you for your lack of care for your country if that is what you are up to!!

I can only hope that we have some colleagues across the aisle who have family members in small businesses and agricultural operations. This is already beyond serious. Some will not recover. We must re-open businesses now and stop any further suspension of our constitutional rights.

Protect those who have weak immune systems by having them stay home and let those who are healthy do what they can to revive our economy! There are hospitals and clinics standing basically empty while citizens are being told that their medical needs are nonessential! I have a friend who has been told that her breast cancer treatment is nonessential! This is crazy! The government has NO right to decide what is essential or nonessential for the individual citizen. How dare you overstep like that!?

Let those with weakened immune systems stay home. Let the rest of us go back to work. Vaccines are not the answer either. Vaccines will only further weaken immune systems.
I will not inject that junk into my family!

Get antibody test for everyone in MN and Open up all of the MN businesses if the hospitals are ready for the volume and the morgue/funeral homes are ready for the bodies, (so they don’t have to be buried in mass graves like New York is doing). Most people will have common sense to be careful, responsible, so we can avoid a 2nd shutdown. Face mask and hand sanitizer should be mandatory if visiting a nursing home to protect the residents and workers. Hopefully we can reach herd immunity quickly, but everyone should get prepared and get their affairs in order before businesses open up next month, even young healthy people have ended up in ICU.

This is a waste of time. Businesses are beginning to open besides grocery stores. There has to be guidelines for the businesses to open yet try to keep the risk of spreading low. It doesn’t happen over night. I actually sent my ideas of how salons could open and keep the risk from spreading low. To contribute ways to get businesses open is a better idea to keep things moving forward. So sorry I won’t sign, I prefer to go another route and that is to add something positive to the process of getting businesses open.
