Finally a MN House GOP Leader Fights; Pushes Important Quorum Issue

The Minnesota State House has garnered attention nationwide due to the initial split being 67-67 following the election. The GOP then gained a 67-66 Majority when a judge ruled that the 40B election winner, Democrat Curtis Johnson, did not meet residency requirements to hold office. Read our previous reporting on Walz’ illegal writ of election (which is now being sued by the MNGOP) and our reporting on how the GOP can leverage and expand their Majority by fighting the tampered election results of 54A (where 21 ballots were thrown out and Tabke won by only 15 votes after a recount).

Action 4 Liberty often exposes instances of Republican leaders letting conservatives down and caving to Democrats, however, it appears the House GOP’s new Assistant Leader, Rep. Harry Niska (HD31A), is taking the fight to the Democrats and understands the KEY legislative rule battles that are about to be underway.

In the following post on X, you will see Rep. Harry Niska set the record straight on what constitutes a “quorum”. A quorum is simply how many people must be present in a given meeting in order for business to take place, in this case how many Representatives must be present. The Minnesota Reformer is reporting that House Democrats are considering not showing up for the first two weeks of the legislative session to avoid a quorum but Rep. Harry Niska correctly states why a quorum is actually 67 members with the current legislative make-up. See post below:

No dirty tricks are beneath the Democrats and they will attempt any tactic they can to delay, undermine, or prevent GOP power in the House. If Democrats do not show up and do their jobs, the GOP has 67 votes to pass legislation and would have every right to do so under a Speaker of their choosing.

The Democrat meltdown is underway after having total control of our state, Melissa Hortman (HD34B) cannot believe that she has lost the Speakership. They have weaponized legislative procedure and rules against Republicans and fear that retribution is on the way. If any weak-kneed RINOs are scared to play hard-ball from the jump, perhaps they need to be reminded about the last day of the previous session where Dems compiled all of their bucket list bills into a giant, 2,800 page, unconstitutional omnibus bill which sent both chambers into chaos while motions were not being recognized.

If Rep. Harry Niska is prepared to lead conservative battles onto the House floor and truly make something of this moment for Republicans, he will be presented with many opportunities. GOP House members say that Niska was elected as Assistant Leader, as opposed to GOP Leader and Speaker-Designee Lisa Demuth’s choice for that position, RINO Rep. Paul Torkelson (HD15B) who has a 54% lifetime rating on our scorecards. GOP House members also say that this position was previously appointed and that an election process took place in a caucus meeting for that role where Niska won out, however they say Torkelson was instead appointed to the Executive Board by Demuth (HD13A). Meanwhile, Democrats have selected former cop turn drunk driving “They/She” Brion Curran (HD36B) for their House Assistant Leader.

House Republicans have an opportunity to seize power and maintain it but it will take strategic floor fighters with strong knowledge of the House Rules and Robert’s Rules of Order to fight back against the Democrats and their destruction of Minnesota. Niska appears to be a strong floor fighter and has clear parliamentary knowledge so he must use it to shrink government and fight for liberty. When we see Republicans fight for liberty and good policy, we celebrate that. Now let's see if they can keep it up and submit a budget that cuts spending to pre-Covid levels!

Action 4 Liberty will continue to stand on the frontlines in the battles for freedom in our state and continue to be the microphone of the grassroots.
