House GOP Votes for Anti-Gun Bill, Only Three Voted No

The 2nd Amendment is not just under threat by radical Democrats, it is also under threat by big government, liberal Republican politicians. On Monday, April 20th, only THREE Republican State Representatives voted against an anti-gun bill. This bill is the ANTITHESIS of Constitutional carry!

This unconstitutional gun control bill, HF3762, allows expunged (sealed) records to be used against people while seeking to obtain a permit to purchase, receive, or carry a firearm. It would seem that all Republicans would be in opposition to this but not with Lisa Demuth running the show! Only Reps. Ben Davis (6A), Marj Fogleman (21B), and Drew Roach (58B) voted against the bill. All three are members of the MN Freedom Caucus. See vote below:

As seen above, the “Feardom Walkus” including Reps Tom Dippel (41B), Jeff Dotseth (11A), and Mike Wiener (5B) abandoned their constituents and left them voiceless on the House floor during the vote! All three were present throughout the floor session and INTENTIONALLY did not vote on the bill! Wiener is challenging incumbent Paul Utke in the SD5 Senate race and if Utke votes against the gun control bill, pro-gun groups may have no choice but to back Utke! If Constitutional conservatives cannot rely on Wiener to vote conservative on behalf of his deep red district, his constituents may choose he hasn’t earned their votes.

The only reasonable rationale for why a legislator should ever abstain from a vote is if they have a personal conflict of interest with the legislation. Since that clearly was not the case with this bill, these three showed weakness and an unwillingness to take a stance when Minnesotans’ Constitutional liberties are on the line.

Of course, it is even worse to vote for gun control than to not vote! 61 out of 67 GOP legislators COMPLETELY backstabbed the base that gave them power. They aligned themselves with Democrats and gained nothing from it. They are doing the exact opposite of Constitutional carry!

RINOs Ben Bakeberg (45B), Paul Novotny (30B), Jeff Witte (57B), and Michael Kruen (SD32) partnered with radical Democrat Judy Seeberger (SD41) to co-author this legislation.

Republicans who backstabbed the GOP base today on gun control include: Reps. Keith Allen (19A), Pam Altendorf (20A), Patti Anderson (33A), Paul Anderson (12A), Jeff Backer (9A), Ben Bakeberg (54B), Dave Baker (16B), Peggy Bennett (23A), Matt Bliss (2B), John Burkel (1A), Greg Davids (26B), Lisa Demuth (13A), Tom Dippel (41B), Jeff Dotseth (11A), Bidal Duran (2A), Elliott Engen (36A), Mary Franson (12B), Steve Gander (1B), Dawn Gillman (17A), Jimmy Gordon (28A), Bobbie Harder (17B), Josh Heintzeman (6B), Walter Hudson (30A), Spencer Igo (7A), Steve Jacob (20B), Wayne Johnson (41A), Jim Joy (4B), Krista Knudsen (5A), Jon Koznick (57A), Ron Kresha (10A), Bryan Lawrence (27B), Joe McDonald (29A), Shane Mekeland (27A), Patti Mueller (23B), Tom Murphy (9B), Andrew Myers (45A), Danny Nadeau (34A), Jim Nash (48A), Nathan Nelson (11B), Harry Niska (31A), Paul Novotny (30B), Tim O'Driscoll (13B), Bjorn Olson (22A), Bernie Perryman (14A), Duane Quam (24A), Marion Rarick (29B), Aaron Repinski (26A), Kristin Robbins (37A), Max Rymer (28B) Joe Schomacker (21A), Isaac Schultz (10B), Erica Schwartz (18A), Peggy Scott (31B), Tom Sexton (19B), Roger Skraba (3A), Terry Stier (22B), Chris Swedzinski (15A), Paul Torkelson (15B), Scott Van Binsbergen (16A), Cal Warwas (7B), Nolan West (32A), Mike Wiener (5B), Jeff Witte (57B), and Natalie Zeleznikar (3B).

This legislation is also extremely unnecessary since individuals must already submit expunged relevant crimes with their application for a permit. This law expands it far beyond that!
