With Tampon Tim Walz at his lowest approval ratings ever in Minnesota, 2026 will be a prime opportunity for Republicans to have a strong candidate. As explained in previous A4L reporting, President Trump received over 1.5M votes in MN and it will take about that many voters to defeat Walz in 2026. If the GOP does not have a candidate who can unite the MAGA base and get them to turn out and vote, we will have a repeat of 2022.

Scott Jensen is again running for Governor and seems to think that he will win by becoming EVEN more liberal! At a recent townhall style Q & A, Jensen battled with GOP Senator Glenn Gruenhagen by scolding him and suggesting the GOP lost elections because Gruenhagen pushes "social issues" like opposing late term abortion and child transgender mutilation. Jensen even tells Gruenhagen that he is "part of the problem"! See video below:

Interestingly, Gruenhagen won his last election while Jensen lost to Walz by over 7.5 percentage points! Is Scott Jensen anybody to lecture Republicans about winning elections? Also, notice how Jensen doesn’t even want to give Gruenhagen the respect of listening to his questions! He will not be able to lead Republicans by dictating what types of questions we are allowed to ask! In the full clip, Jensen says Glenn is "part of the problem" by raising these issue and Gruenhagen says that Jensen "lost my [his] support" which Jensen seems totally unbothered by. Jensen will lose votes wherever he goes with this attitude!

The majority of Minnesotans do not want boys in girls sports. The majority of Minnesotans do not want children mutilated. The majority of Minnesota does not support late term/post birth abortion. These are NOT the issues Republicans like Scott Jensen should be running away from! These are 80/20 or 90/10 issues! One attendee of the event, Jonah Heuer, wrote an article on the event and his thoughts on Jensen.

Jensen has been losing major support and A4L is told that he is failing to meet internal fundraising deadlines. Since losing to Walz, Jensen has begun admitting how pro-abortion he is. Despite Jensen previously interning at Planned Parenthood and voting to fund abortion with tax dollars while in the Senate, Democrats will pretend he is as hardcore on the issue as any conservative. This means that his flip-flopping won’t do any good, it will only lose him conservative support. Jensen calling abortion up to the moment of birth a “Constitutional Right” in Minnesota shows just how out of touch he is with the base.

Despite using Trump's name as a shield, Scott Jensen has a long anti-MAGA track record. In 2020 Jensen introduced Libertarian Presidential nominee Jo Jorgensen at a MN campaign stop. While he did not outwardly endorse her lackluster campaign, his presence implied support and he did not endorse Trump. Even in the recent 2024 election with the worst ticket in U.S. history in the running (Kamala/Walz), Jensen NEVER publicly endorsed President Trump!

Even on the issue of Covid, where Jensen should be a leader with his history on the issue, he is refusing to sign A4L’s Never Again pledge. If he is unwilling to put pen to paper and promise constituents that he will eliminate the Governor’s unilateral Emergency Powers (used to lock down Minnesotans) then his word cannot be trusted. 

When it comes to the 2nd Amendment and gun control, Jensen still can’t be trusted! He worked with Moms Demand Action while in office to push gun control and would 100% backstab conservatives if elected.

Jensen is running to the center and is losing the Right. Even his campaign logo reflects that since he has adopted a Ukraine-style color scheme in campaign material. Does this look like "America First" to anybody?!? See Jensen’s website below:

Scott Jensen is losing momentum and has lost the base. It will be very difficult for him to win the party’s endorsement after he trashed it and argued that it forces candidates to be too conservative. In 2023, conservative State Central delegates attempted to censure Scott Jensen as a punishment for lying to voters. See below:

While RINO politicians try to fool the grassroots into supporting them, A4L maintains the grassroots position year-round! A4L will never back down from our conservative principles or cave to the Establishment. Scott Jensen’s floundering campaign will continue losing support as he stakes out anti-liberty positions. As mentioned before, the ONLY way to win is to inspire the MAGA base to show up and vote. The MAGA base did not show up in 2022 for Jensen and 2026 will not be any different. Jensen has lost this race as it is just getting started by abandoning conservative principles.
