Once politicians feel entitled to stay in power, you know they’ve been in political office for too long. Career politicians like Tom Emmer (CD6) have made a living off of serving the interests of the Establishment while giving just enough lip-service to their districts and their party’s base to continue to get re-elected. Eventually, the grassroots becomes fed up with the bad votes, double-speak, and crony behavior of swampy politicians and Tom Emmer is no different.

The SD31 BPOU held their convention on Saturday, Feb. 21st, and this legislative district sits in Congressional District 6. Beyond the regular business the party unit had to conduct, it is typical for candidates to show up and make their case to delegates. Tom Emmer appeared at the convention to pretend to show interest in his constituents’ concerns while his cronies tried to block his opponent, Mike Foley, from being allowed to speak or even be present at the convention.

Mike Foley is a Marine and Iraq War veteran who is running for the CD6 GOP endorsement. One of the focuses of his campaign has been Tom Emmer’s unwillingness to engage with constituents which Foley evidences by stating that he has tried for a year concerning an issue related to stolen valor claims against Republican Congressman Cory Mills (FL-7). 

Foley politely confronted Emmer at the SD31 convention, shook his hand, Foley told him “You’re a hard person to get a hold of” and Emmer snapped back. Rather than having a friendly conversation with Foley, Emmer ran off after giving an insincere ‘thank you for your service’. See the video below:

Emmer is a shape-shifting politician that now occupies the GOP Whip position (3rd most powerful while GOP has control) and is tasked with demanding other Representatives vote however their special interests want. Emmer is not whipping votes to cut federal spending, eliminate bureaucracy, slash regulations, or protect our Constitutional liberties; He’s been whipping votes for bills that add to our national debt, send billions upon billions of our tax dollars overseas, hide unconstitutional laws in massive omnibus bills, protect Epstein co-conspirators, and much more.

Tom Emmer pretends to be an America First conservative despite President Trump trashing him as a “Globalist RINO” in his 2023 Speaker bid (a Truth Social post that has never been deleted). This effectively ended Emmer’s Speakership chances so this time around he has attempted to be as loyal of a lapdog as possible in hopes for another chance at the Speakership or other higher office. While Trump tries to put lipstick on a pig by selling pork-filled omnibus bills, Republican members of Congress have not delivered on a majority of issues they were elected on and Emmer is maintaining the status quo by not demanding the passage of hundreds of single issue bills that are pro-liberty, government-shrinking, and tax-cutting. 

As seen in previous A4L reporting, Emmer previously teamed up with Keith Ellison to send U.S. money to Somalia and did nothing to stop the mass Somali influx into CD6 while Obama was in charge. He and Ellison co-chaired the Congressional Somali Caucus in order to represent Somali interests in DC while also Emmer was teaming with Amy Klobuchar to give Somalia welfare. Emmer had a press release published about this Caucus but DELETED it after it became viral following Nick Shirley’s exposure of MN Somali fraud. The press release can still be viewed using internet archive websites. Emmer even scolded conservative constituents concerned with mass Somali migration into their communities and argued Somalis were some of the fastest integrating cultures in the world. President Trump trolled Emmer about this by saying in a speech “He’s a big fan of Somalia” and he also re-truthed Laura Loomer showing Emmer was a lobbyist working to destroy the Electoral College and install a national popular vote. Tom Emmer was even labelled “the worst of all of them” by Charlie Kirk during Emmer's Speaker bid.

Flip-flopping Tom Emmer goes with the wind and the constituents of his red district are getting fed up. Emmer has faced Republican opposition in each of his primary elections for Congress and 2026 will be no different. Another expectation to have is a rigged endorsing convention. As known by conservatives like Chris Corey, A.J. Kern, and others, the RINOs will rig the convention every which way to block you from even competing from the CD6 GOP endorsement.

Foley’s confrontation with Emmer has gone viral on Facebook and he has drawn a ton of new attention to his campaign. He may struggle to win hardcore conservatives due to his overt defense of the Somali community, as he was critical of Emmer for turning his back on them. Foley also has been critical of ICE and called it federal overreach, which puts him in a minority among GOP primary voters. People can learn more about him and his positions on his campaign website.

2024 GOP primary candidate, professional golf caddy Chris Corey, tells A4L that he is also exploring another run against Emmer. As seen in previous A4L reporting, Corey was blocked from seeking the party endorsement despite following every rule in place. He argues that CD6 deserves representation that adheres to the Constitution and has a strong conservative voting record. Corey out-performed primary challengers to GOP incumbents in CD1 and CD8 with a limited campaign and says that if he runs again, he will run a stronger and more fierce campaign than the one previous.

Pressure is mounting against Establishment RINOs because grassroots conservatives have raised their standards. Tom Emmer has major conservative opposition in his district because he has failed to represent their interests.
