Congress District 7 is MN’s most conservative, pro-liberty, anti-establishment delegation in the state yet the grassroots has been shut out for years. CD7’s RINO Congresswoman, Michelle Fischbach, has long had her chosen puppets running the CD7 GOP but the grassroots rose up in 2024 and unified behind conservative challenger Bret Bussman, who ultimately defeated incumbent puppet Craig Bishop.

Since Bussman has become Chair, the RINO Establishment has done all that they can to attack, undermine, and discredit Bussman, even when his ideas would objectively be good for the party! Bussman has shown that he is a good-faith, happy warrior, straight shooter yet it is his honesty and conservative principles that he is being attacked for!

As seen in previous A4L reporting, RINO Michelle Fischbach's puppets have begun an insane effort to remove Bussman as CD7 Chair by falsely claiming that the 2025 CD7 convention was illegitimate because of Otter Tail delegates participating. According to the RINOs’ backwards logic, a convention is not legitimate unless you disenfranchise Otter Tail delegates.

Since our previous reporting, Bret Bussman contacted A4L and informed us that he is “ready to go to war” and that he will not cave to their pressure! They could not get him to resign so now they may go for the nuclear option!

A4L has learned that it is not just Fischbach’s puppets after Bret, it’s Michelle Fischbach herself! Sources say establishment puppet Noran Dillon allegedly told a CD7 Vice Chair that Fischbach doesn’t believe the officer elections were legitimate. Fischbach is doing all she can to undermine HER OWN constituents and stage a coup against Bussman.

Fischbach even tried to play dumb recently on the AM 1100 WZFG radio show with Steve Hallstrom. Hear audio below:

As heard above, Fischbach pretends to know nothing about the CD7 Board while throwing a fit that her puppet wasn't reelected! They do not have a REAL reason to attack Bussman so they throw Otter Tail under the bus again nearly 8 months after the convention claiming parts of the convention were unconstitutional. That is some serious desperation from the RINOs!

Bussman tells A4L that many on the CD7 Exec Committee have been after him ever since he asked for documentation to prove that Senate District (SD) Directors were appointed or elected properly since Bussman had to submit documents listing leadership position holders to the state party. Bussman argues that several of the SD Directors were not appointed or elected properly and him asking for relevant documentation was additionally threatening to them.

As Bussman began following through on his promise to correct the many Bishop/Lemeister violations of state law and the Party and CD Constitutions and Bylaws, he discovered some other serious problems. The Bishop/Lesmeister team oversaw the elimination of the CD 7 Congressional District Committee, required by the MNGOP Constitution, and tasked with managing the affairs of the CD. This committee included every BPOU Chair in CD7 and as we learned in 2022, many of those BPOU Chairs were patriots who were seen as a threat to the RINOs in power.

Bussman does not have the authority as Chair to unilaterally call a convention to fix the many issues with CD7. In addition, the RINOs have no incentive to let grassroots delegates run the show. Many of the actions taken by the Exec Committee like stripping Bussman of Chair responsibilities are invalid. 

The RINOs have done all they can to stack the deck against Bussman on the Exec Committee. Currently 29 people (22 voting members) sit on this committee and Bret can just about count all of his allies on a single hand. New positions and prior improperly appointed or elected SD Directors were put on the committee to give the Establishment a super-majority to undermine Bret with. The fact that Bussman has held on as Chair despite the tilted, unfair opposition against him is a testament to his leadership skills under pressure.

Bussman tried to involve the state party by reporting misconduct to MNGOP Chair Alex Plechash. Unfortunately for Bret, he soon realized that the state party also wanted to remove him as Chair!

Bret Bussman is one of the major reasons that Plechash is the MNGOP Chair in the first place and now Plechash is returning the favor by stabbing him in the back! Bussman actually ran for MNGOP Chair himself and after being eliminated he endorsed Plechash ahead of the final round of voting, likely delivering the votes Plechash needed to defeat RINO David Hann. As a fellow veteran, Bussman likely expected Plechash to be a leader, not a sellout to the Deep State RINOs!

Bret Bussman tells A4L that a special closed CD7 Exec. meeting took place Wednesday, Nov. 19th where the members made a series of motions to remove Bret’s authority over that meeting and to discuss Bret resigning as Chair altogether. Bussman says Plechash was at the meeting and is supportive of the Bret quietly resigning. They first removed his authority to run the meeting, which Bussman argued violated the CD7 GOP Bylaws that require he preside over CD7 meetings. In fact, presiding over meetings is the first duty listed for the Chair in Article 1, Section 1 in the CD7 GOP Bylaws.

Of the 29 members (22 voting members) of the committee listed below, Bussman says only four members had his back! Talk about out-numbered! Bret also says one member remained neutral and that two others likely would’ve supported him had they not had a scheduling conflict and were able to attend this last minute meeting. In discussion with A4L, Bret Bussman had the following to say about the members trying to remove him: “This is not about me. I believe that we have to be compliant with the law and our governing doucments have to be followed by everyone. We also have to be transparent in how we conduct business. I have fought every day to represent all members of CD7 and to run the CD7 Republican Party fairly. I have done all I can to unify conservatives and complete the business of the party. It is disappointing to see Republicans try to remove me. I will not resign from my position and am unwavering in living up to the commitment I made to the CD7 delegates who elected me. I appreciate the support I’ve received from conservatives across the state and will continue the good fight.”

Bussman’s willingness to fight back against RINO political insiders is clearly appreciated by the grassroots since he is doing exactly what he was elected to do.

Action 4 Liberty stands with the conservative grassroots of MN and will always be willing to expose corruption. The coup attempt against Bret Bussman proves that the Establishment is willing to do anything to keep regular people out of meaningful leadership roles. Patriots in CD7 can pressure their SD Director and the other members of the CD7 Exec. Committee to oppose the Bret Bussman coup.
