Like is being seen in major cities across our country, Minneapolis and Saint Paul represent two intra-party battles between Democrat candidates in our state. Most notably the NYC Mayor race will like be won by Muslim Socialist Zohran Mamdani despite failed RINO attempts to demand Republican Curtis Sliwa drop out to endorse Covid tyrant Andrew Cuomo, when their combined totals likely still wouldn't defeat Mamdani. Instead of justifying one evil versus another, conservatives are equally justified to a protest vote or who they see as the lesser evil. While many conservatives feel disenfranchised with the choices for local office, they may be the critical voting block that decides the outcome of these critical Mayoral races.
Minneapolis Mayor Race
Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey faces Somali Muslim Socialist, the Minneapolis Mamdani, Omar Fateh in a race that has drawn major national attention. Read previous A4L reporting on the Democrat’s failed endorsing convention, Omar Fateh’s candidacy, the swing district legislators supporting Fateh, and the other candidates running.
With warring factions on the left, conservative voters could decide the outcome. Most Republicans or conservatives in Minneapolis will likely vote for Laverne Turner and then Jacob Frey on their rank choice ballot to prevent Fateh from winning. Less risk-averse conservatives may opt to rank neither of the main contenders or even vote Fateh to let the Socialist maniacs have their way to build the city anew in the future.
The benefits to conservatives if Omar Fateh wins:
- Failed Socialist policies on display, example of why change is needed
- Islamification of MN will be deeply unpopular and move voters to the right
- Fateh’s State Senate seat becomes vacant and Senate becomes a temporary tie instead of a Dem majority
- Omar Fateh and Tim Walz have bad blood between them since at least the Uber/Lyft battle and a Fateh victory undermines Walz' goal of a Frey victory
- Fateh controlling Minneapolis increases Republican odds of flipping statewide and legislative races in 2026
The benefits to conservatives if Omar Fateh loses are obvious, namely, Islamic Socialism being averted. Unfortunately, Jacob Frey is constantly sucking up to the Somali Islamic community and has recently pushed radical gun control, proving that he feels entitled conservative votes. Frey is anticipated to win but this election is not a lock and Somali voters will likely turn out in big numbers for Fateh.
St. Paul Mayor Race
As seen in previous A4L reporting, five candidates are running in this race including incumbent Mayor Melvin Carter. Like Minneapolis, this is a rank choice election where Tim Walz is supporting the incumbent. Carter’s main opponent is State Rep. Kaohly Vang Her, who gained fame as she called herself an “illegal immigrant” on the House floor. While appearing more business friendly than Carter, Vang Her has also made the city police not cooperating with I.C.E. agents a major campaign priority. Since being elected in 2017, Melvin Carter has continued to incompetently run Minnesota Capital city and, like Jacob Frey, has recently pushed unenforceable and unconstitutional gun control to please their ultra-liberal base.
While most conservatives will likely look to business owner Mike Hilborn for their first selection, there are benefits and negatives when choosing their poison in the second and third round of voting.
The benefits to conservatives if self-described illegal immigrant Kaohly Vang Her wins:
- Very little separates Vang Her and Carter on prioritizing illegal aliens, it is largely rhetoric
- Vang Her rising up the political ladder may prompt investigations into her questionable immigration background
- Vang Her would vacate her House seat, giving Republicans a temporary majority in the State House
- Tim Walz is undermined by having his chosen puppet be defeated for his incompetence
- Vang Her may be slightly more conservative than Melvin Carter and turnovers in power can root out previous corruption (and replace it with new corruption)
The benefits to conservatives if self-described illegal immigrant Kaohly Vang Her loses is that St. Paul has rejected her radical rhetoric against I.C.E., the feminist goal of an all female Mayor and City Council is not realized, and the Democrat legislators that endorsed her didn’t get to have their way.
School Board
Not all school boards have elections this year, individuals can see all of the candidates running for school board on the candidate filing page. Conservatives may choose to oppose any candidate supported by leftist teacher union bosses (Education Minnesota) and instead support candidates endorsed by right-leaning group Minnesota Parents Alliance or support other conservative or non-incumbent options. As seen in a recent letter of just 7% of MN school board members opposing boys in girls sports, action can be taken from this office but the Left has had a stranglehold in school boards for years. Failing public schools have become leftist indoctrination camps and with school board races typically yield low turn-out so if conservatives turn out and vote today, there could be a shift.
Other Local Races
Two open State Senate races are up for grabs with Republican Michael Holmstrom vs Democrat Louis McNutt in SD29 to fill the late Bruce Anderson's former seat and Republican Dwight Dorau vs. Democrat Amanda Hemmingsen-Jaeger in SD47 to fill cat-burglar Nicole Mitchell's former seat. SD29 is expected to go red and SD47 is expected to go blue. Isanti, Lino Lakes, Hopkins, Minnetonka, St. Peter, and White Bear Lake will also have contested Mayoral elections taking place today. Stearns County Commissioner District 4 will elect a candidate in a special election. Several city councils have elections today. All candidate filings and some candidate websites can be found in the candidate filings.
Not all Minnesotans have an election to vote in today. If you are unsure if you have any elections to vote on today or if you want to view your sample ballot, check here. You can also find your polling location here. Action 4 Liberty will continue informing Patriots across our state with information that they cannot get anywhere else.
