Corrupt Special Session Passes 2nd Largest Budget in MN History, Abortion Funding, and Woke Policies

The Walz/legislative leader deal crafted behind closed doors using many unconstitutional, big government omnibus bills was rushed through the legislature within a single day on Monday, June 9th. The Uniparty deal wrapped up the passage of the 2nd largest budget in our state’s history and added all kinds of woke policies. The only larger budget passed in total was under recent trifecta Democrat control.

The public, media, and even the legislators themselves were left in the dark as Tyrant Tim Walz, RINO Speaker Lisa Demuth, Dem House leader Melissa Hortman, Dem Senate leader Erin Murphy, and RINO Senate leader Mark Johnson negotiated behind closed doors. All of these bills remained out of public sight for much of the weekend and the corruption was so out of line that even Establishment puppets like Walter Hudson began to speak out.

All of the bills passed during the special session can be seen below. The webpage shown below can be viewed here. See below:

The majority of these bills are unconstitutional, multi-subject, big government omnibus bills that spend billions upon billions in tax dollars and force woke policies. One of the bills was a single-subject, stand-alone bill modifying free healthcare for illegal alien adults. This was sold as an outright elimination by Republicans and as a win in the deal with Democrats, however as seen in previous A4L reporting, the bill did not complete the job because loopholes still exist for illegal alien adults receiving free healthcare and the bill was FAKE for that reason. This bill passed the House by a vote of 68-65 and the Senate by a vote of 37-30. Democrat leaders and a couple desperate swing district Dems joined Republicans. See votes below:

Due to the volume of bills passed, you will see a breakdown of a few of the outrageous things passed and who voted to pass it below. Future reporting will explain other votes.

Health and Human Services omnibus bill (HF2)

This bill tucks hidden funding for abortions under the guise of “Medical Assistance”. A4L exposure on this topic caused fake pro-life group MCCL to attack us with smears while they cover for RINOs who voted for the abortion and Planned Parenthood funding. Planned Parenthood is funded through ‘sexual and reproductive health services grant program’ which got over $22M in this bill. This grant program additionally receives over $2M in this bill from the ‘Temporary Assistance for Needy Families’, highlighting how corrupt things are tucked into bills in ways the average reader would have no idea. Previous A4L reporting exposed how all this is funded.

When the Health omnibus bill was debated last month during the regular session (when it was numbered HF2435), 29 House RINOs and no Senate Republicans supported the bill. This time, thanks to A4L supporters and grassroots conservatives holding politicians’ feet to the fire, only 22 RINOs in the House voted for the bill: Paul Anderson (12A), Dave Baker (16B), Greg Davids (26B), Lisa Demuth (13A), Josh Heintzeman (6B), Spencer Igo (7A), Ron Kresha (10A), Andrew Myers (45A), Danny Nadeau (34A), Jim Nash (48A), Harry Niska (31A), Aaron Repinksi (26A), Joe Schomacker (21A), Erica Schwartz (18A), Peggy Scott (31B), Tom Sexton (19B), Roger Skraba (3A), Terry Stier (22B), Paul Torkelson (15B), Cal Warwas (7B), Nolan West (32A), and Natalie Zeleznikar (3B). Democrat opposition in the House came from their concern on a provision requiring the passage of the illegal alien healthcare modification bill. Be sure to note that Sen. Keri Heintzeman voted no while her husband voted yes in the House, this is not the first time they voted differently on this question. The bill passed 73-58 in the House and 34-33 in the Senate. K-12 Education omnibus policy and spending bill (HF5)

Previous A4L reporting exposed the DEI center funded through the Dept. of Education meant to force the woke ideology onto children in schools. Fortunately, pressure from A4L, our supporters, and other grassroots conservatives forced Republicans to renegotiate and strip the funding out of the bill! The removal of that policy is a massive win that was only possible because the grassroots stood up.

Unfortunately, this bill is still packed with billions upon billions in wasteful spending and liberal policies. Instead of waste being gutted from some of those policies, spending was cut on special education. Minnesota’s policy of tampons in boys rooms was not removed and while there is no line item funding such proposal, do not be shocked if that’s how some of the big money appropriated is spent. 97-36 in the House and 35-32 in the Senate. See votes below:

Higher Education omnibus (SF1)

Woke universities and colleges across our state are brainwashing young adults with radical left ideologies and have openly opposed and worked against President Trump’s agenda to keep men out of women’s sports and locker rooms. With Republicans holding control of the House, serious negotiations could’ve been leveraged to ensure meaningful concessions. Universities and colleges should not serve political interests, they are meant to be educational institutions that can be as self-sufficient as possible. Notably, the University of Minnesota will be given over $750M despite high tuition rates (that have only been raised over the recent years, 6.5% increase next year). One item that was missing in the bill was the appointment of regents for the U of M, ceding the power to Walz. This bill additionally creates more regulations surrounding private career schools. As a multi-subject, big spending, unconstitutional omnibus bill, this should have been a non-starter and an easy no vote. The bill was passed 95-36 in the House and 36-31 in the Senate. See votes below:

Details surrounding the corrupt $700M Debt (bonding) bill can be found in our reporting here.

In total, the budget is the 2nd largest in MN history and eats into the surplus dollars taxpayers are owed. Surplus dollars are spent away because the budget spends more than the government will take in through revenues (taxes). Many Patriots are wondering what the point of a GOP controlled House is if they are just going to agree to reckless spending that takes away surplus dollars. See graphic below:

RINO legislative leadership, notably Mark Johnson and Lisa Demuth (and Paul Torkelson), sold the conservative base and their own caucus members under the bus to advance their own power with Democrats. The special session treated our state’s citizens like pawns in a corrupt Uniparty game. The 2nd largest budget in MN history cannot be done with only Democrats, many Republicans are just as much to blame.

Action 4 Liberty has called out the corruption of this special session from the jump and have kept Patriots informed on these critical issues. RINO politicians selling out grassroots conservatives has become par for the course in our state. RINO leadership and legislators who passed along the special session agenda screwed over our state and have maintained a corrupt status quo. A4L will never abandon the grassroots and we will never give up our mission to protect liberty for the next generation. There is clearly a battle between grassroots conservatives and the Establishment, we know where we stand and who we will always stand shoulder to shoulder with.
