After much anticipation, the Trump Administration is cracking down on MN fraudsters and has begun raiding the fraudulent child care facilities, often run by Somali migrants. 22 judicial warrants have been issued, including for the infamous “Quality Learing Center” exposed nationally by Nick Shirley. The MN House Fraud Committee also met today and disingenuously paid lip service to the massive fraud within the Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP) while there was no mention of abolishing the program!

Sources say the FBI, the Homeland Security Investigations, and local authorities executed the search warrants. Notably, the city of Minneapolis released a statement saying that MPD officers were not involved in the raids. Democrat leadership in Minneapolis used Operation Metro Surge as their excuse for not helping uncover fraud.

These raids are reportedly focused on fraud from both state and federal funds, not citizenship status. This in mind, there may be a much needed immigration focus. Vice President JD Vance spoke at the 4/28/26 White House Media Press Briefing and argued that we must stop allowing “people who shouldn’t even be in this country to fleece the United States and our taxpayers”. With Walz being a former opponent to Vance for the Vice Presidency, Vance has paid particular attention to Minnesota’s fraud epidemic. Vance has announced that the Dept of Justice will create a new Assistant Attorney General position that will have nationwide jurisdiction on fraud and this position will start and focus on Minnesota and will expand out. Vance also states that Senate Majority leader John Thune has ensured a swift confirmation process, though the individual who is being selected has not yet been identified publicly.

Tim Walz knows his Administration oversaw and allowed billions upon billions in tax dollars to be stolen by fraudsters and did nothing about it. In fact, Walz even continued payments to the fraudulent group “Feeding Our Future” by falsely claiming a judge mandated it. This lie was so egregious that the judge took the unprecedented step to publicly correct the record. Like that case, the child care fraud has been known for years and Walz, Ellison, and others in the Administration let it happen. After his fraud regime was uncovered, Walz is trying to save face and even take credit for the raids! See below:

On the same day of these raids (4/28/26), the MN House Fraud Committee also met to discuss the child care fraud within the CCAP program. While Action 4 Liberty has been calling out this fraud since at least March of 2019 (over 7 years ago), crooked politicians have continued funding it through Human Services Omnibus spending bills. Of the 5 Republicans on the fraud committee, 3 of them voted alongside Democrats for the CCAP fraud last year! State Reps Jim Nash (48A), Kristin Robbins (37A), and Isaac Schultz (10B) voted for HF2434 which funded the CCAP program for 2026 and 2027. The other two GOP Fraud Committee members, Reps Pam Altendorf (20A) and Patti Anderson (33A), voted against the omnibus bill.

Kristin Robbins is Chair of the Fraud Committee and has used the position to elevate herself as she runs for Governor. The Fraud Committee lacks teeth, does not require legislation to move through it, and does not have the power to compel testimony due to Speaker Lisa Demuth’s pathetic negotiation skills. Robbins even complained that Walz refused to show up to testify on CCAP fraud and has previously complained that Ellison has no-showed. Robbins is highlighting fraud in a program that she voted to fund and she currently is on no bill that abolishes the CCAP due to its massive fraud. The full committee meeting can be viewed HERE.

Robbins is listed as a co-author on a House bill (HF3819) that requires more oversight of child care facilities getting more than $500K in CCAP funding but this is woefully inadequate. This bill does not have a companion in the Senate despite being introduced roughly 2 months ago which means legislators do not appear to be seriously pushing the bill. The HHS Office of Inspector General has already exposed that Walz and Democrats did not comply with federal and state attendance documentation requirements and paid the fake daycares anyway. More regulations and more government is NOT the answer! The answer is to DEFUND THE FRAUD!

Senator Nathan Wesenberg (SD10) and Rep. Drew Roach (58B) are leading the front to defund the child care fraud in the legislature by pushing a bill (HF4336 / SF4421) that completely eliminates CCAP. The program has been proven to be a detriment to taxpayers and Minnesotans can spend their money better than the government. Despite voting to fund the CCAP fraud in 2025, Rep. Isaac Schultz is a co-author on the bill to eliminate CCAP.

Kristin Robbins and the Fraud Committee need to realize that there has been enough talk about fraud, now there needs to be action on fraud. Robbins giving the issue lip service is not enough, she must push the CCAP Elimination Bill or nothing will change. Robbins is clearly struggling to get traction in her Governor campaign and has remained a low polling candidate. Legislators who initially endorsed her have quietly abandoned her campaign and even Nikki Haley (who Robbins endorsed in 2024 over President Trump) has stopped sending out text blasts encouraging her supporters to donate to Robbins’ campaign.

Action 4 Liberty will continue to advocate for policies that eliminate waste, fraud, and abuse of tax dollars. The government must be shrunk down to its proper, Constitutionally-mandated size to ensure our tax dollars and liberties are protected.
