Minnesota’s latest budget forecast was released today by the office of Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB) and it reveals that the budget package passed by Demuth and RINO House Republicans was billions more than anticipated. This forecast revealed how much our government is actually spending and how politicians are currently sitting on a roughly $7.2B surplus!
Many may remember Republicans, notably Empty Suit Lisa Demuth, touting that the state budget faced its largest cut in MN history thanks to the House GOP following out of control leftist spending during the Democrat trifecta. Upon digging into our state's finances we learn that is not true.
Demuth and House Republicans initially proposed a state budget that eerily totaled $66.6B and Minnesotans were told that the final state budget number agreed to behind closed doors with Tim Walz was a little over $66B. A4L and grassroots conservatives demanded the budget be brought back to pre-Covid spending levels but RINOs instead cemented in Democrat trifecta spending. See a graphic below that shows spending levels over the years. Purple represents a split legislature while blue represents the Democrat trifecta. As seen below, Demuth and RINO leadership did not give us a spending cut from the Democrat trifecta, we are actually on pace to spend MORE in this biennium than the Democrat trifecta:

When you view the February 2026 budget forecast, you realize that the GOP was not telling the truth about the spending levels they passed within unconstitutional omnibus bills. The spending total for the budget will be over $70.2B! This is barely a cut from Democrat spending levels and it maintains the fraud and corruption our state has been nationally exposed for. See circled section below showing how much Minnesota’s government is actually spending:

It is no big surprise that crooked politicians over-spent and lied for political benefit, but that does not mean the well is dry! There is STILL money sitting around and it should ALL go back to the taxpayers!
Minnesota currently has an over $7.2B surplus!
A surplus is when there is money left over after the state has already passed their biennial budget. Since this money was not spent, they are over-taxed dollars that should be totally returned. In the graphic below, the state currently has over $7.5B with over $3.4B sitting in the Budget Reserve fund. The Budget Reserve fund has become obsolete and unnecessary as it was not even tapped during Covid, proving it does not serve a useful function anymore. There is also $350M in the Cash Flow Account, which allows normal government operations to continue. The surplus is calculated by subtracting the Cash Flow Account from the Balance Before Reserves, bringing us to nearly $7.27.B. See below:

If this surplus was evenly distributed among taxpayers, each individual would receive around $2,400! You would never know this listening to Democrats, RINOs, or the mainstream media! As seen in previous A4L reporting, the media and politicians are lying by claiming that there is a deficit, not a surplus! The truth is that there will be a deficit in the next biennium if the legislature does not cut spending. Simple solution to that: CUT SPENDING!
As seen in a press conference following the release of the budget report, Lisa Demuth strung together an AOC-style word salad about the report! It is painfully clear that Lisa Demuth has no idea what she is talking about and is blurting out random budgeting words. With Demuth's incompetence on full display, Republicans may look elsewhere for leadership in the Governor race.
Action 4 Liberty will continue informing Patriots with information they cannot get anywhere else. The Establishment does not want you to know that they overspent and that taxpayers should have the $7.2B surplus completely returned. The legislature has done enough harm with their spending and supplemental budgets will only make it worse. They should relieve taxpayers while they struggle economically by returning the budget surplus immediately!

On the other side of the coin, it seems premature to declare the state surplus fund “obsolete.” It absolutely should have been used, but Joe Biden dumped helicopter-loads of cash on the state government (to the great delight of the bums and con artists). This money, which must be repaid by the nation’s grandchildren, was treated cavalierly by the ruling elite because they didn’t have to pay anything for it. Given that the state has at least a moral liability for their role in enabling fraud against the federal government, we may yet end up sending some of that surplus to Washington as restitution.
