MN Senate Abdicates Oversight and Appointment Responsibility

Beyond passing policy and spending through legislation, one of the core responsibilities of a legislator is oversight of the Executive branch. In Minnesota, the State Senate is given the responsibility to review the performance of Tim Walz appointed bureaucrats and votes to confirm or deny the appointments.

Rather than complete these obligations, Democrats and some RINOs chose to abdicate their responsibilities by blocking confirmation votes for 114 of Walz’ hand-picked selections with procedural tactics. The full floor session can be seen here and the Senate Journal showing all the votes in writing can be found here.

The nomination review process of the Senate established in statute is the legislature’s most direct way to hold Walz’ Administration accountable for the massive fraud that wasted away billions upon billions in tax dollars. Minnesota state statute requires the Senate to offer advice and consent for all appointments that must receive a Senate vote.

According to EVERY SINGLE Democrat in the State Senate, including the swing district, far-left, fake moderates Aric Putnam, Judy Seeberger, Rob Kupec, and Grant Hauschild, think that Tim Walz is doing a PERFECT job and his 114 nominations deserve ZERO scrutiny! Even if some of his nominees are qualified, the Senate nomination process should ensure that for the taxpayer’s sake.

One of Walz’ nominations, Commissioner of the Dept. of Corrections Paul Schnell, has kept men in the Shakopee female prison and is opposed by the MN Sheriff’s Association. Despite deserving a full-fledged debate, egotistical leftist Ron Latz argued that the GOP had moved nominations like this while they were in the majority. Latz is showing that he is a total hypocrite! It is wrong no matter which party is in power to avoid legitimate legislative responsibilities, appointments deserve vetting and oversight.

Another nomination was for Tikki Brown, the person who has overseen Minnesota’s CCAP fraud, including the Somali child care fraud exposed nationally by Nick Shirley. Democrats had zero interest in having any accountability for fraud.

Democrats have a one seat majority but never concede an inch to Republicans. Meanwhile, some RINOs are constantly caving to the radical left!

Democrats protected Walz and gave him unchecked power by proposing a series of motions that forced all of these nominations to return to committee to die. Of the 11 motions Democrats made, 7 had complete GOP opposition, resulting in 34-33 votes.

The first motion that did not have unanimous GOP opposition was made by radical socialist Omar Fateh. For whatever reason, GOP Senator Warren Limmer did not vote on the nominations of MN State Colleges & Universities Board of Trustees and the MN Higher Edu. Facilities Authority. The Senate vote was 34-32.

Following this vote, RINO Keri Heintzeman voted alongside Democrats to block confirmation proceedings for the MN Housing Finance Agency. The vote was 35-32. With rampant fraud in MN, Tim Walz’ appointees CANNOT be trusted!

Several votes on other nominations again returned to complete GOP opposition and complete Democrat support. This continued until the Tax Court nominations where 21 of the 33 GOP members folded! While Minnesotans are being overtaxed by Tim Walz, they are wondering why the majority of the GOP would forgo a proper nomination process of Walz’ Tax Court nominations! Though Democrat Ann Rest claimed the Tax Committee would take up the relevant nominations at their next meeting, the GOP should've realized that they were dealing with bad faith actors! See vote below:

Action 4 Liberty believes bureaucrats deserve scrutiny and are NOT entitled to taxpayer money. Transparency is the only answer. Action 4 Liberty will continue providing Patriots with liberty-based reporting that cannot be found anywhere else.
