The misrepresentation of Minnesota’s budget estimates are designed by the Establishment to keep as much of your hard earned dollars as they can. The lies are to be expected from the fraud-loving Democrats but many elected Republicans have conceded the narrative too!
As seen in previous A4L reporting, Minnesota has an over $6.2B SURPLUS that should be completely returned to taxpayers. If done, each taxpayer would receive about $2,500 right in time for the Christmas season!
Democrats and RINOs alike are instead arguing that Minnesota will have a future deficit, though that is just a projection! Right now the state has over $6.2B that taxpayers were overtaxed.
In one way or another, the following RINO politicians have conceded critical arguments on the surplus in legislative update emails released today (Friday, December 5th): Pam Altendorf (20A), Peggy Bennett (23A), John Burkel (1A), Marj Fogleman (21B), Mary Franson (12B), Steven Jacob (20B), Peggy Scott (31B), and Tom Sexton (19B). GOP floor leader Harry Niska (31A) also sent a legislative update email on the issue on Thursday, December 4th. Fogleman even argued in her email that it is GOOD that the legislature “won’t be forced to cut spending” but then says they need to keep finding ways to cut spending. See below:

If these RINO Reps are incapable of properly analyzing budget data, they should leave it to A4L and others who actually know what we are looking at! Pretending like they had nothing to do with increased spending is a total joke!
In legislative update emails from the RINOs, they would have you believe the surplus is just $2.4B because they want to take billions from the surplus to put in the useless rainy day fund. The rainy day fund should not exist at all since it was not even necessary during Covid, proving it is obsolete.
The RINOs are also pushing the narrative that the out of control spending is only the fault of the Democrats! RINO State Rep. John Burkel even tries to argue that the mess MN is in is only due to the previous Democrat legislature and that the current legislature is not at fault. What a joke! Even more ironically, House Speaker and Governor candidate Lisa Demuth admits that there is a spending problem. See below:

Did Lisa Demuth forget that she negotiated (behind closed doors with Walz) and passed the 2nd largest budget in MN history or is she just trying to fool voters!?! We think the answer is pretty clear.
As seen in the 2025 A4L legislative scorecard, many Republicans joined Democrats in passing unconstitutional, multi-subject omnibus budget bills. While proper oversight of these funds was not done by Walz, it is the fault of both RINOs and Dems for giving him the money to waste in the first place!
RINO State Rep. Tom Sexton even argues in his email that he wishes he could give back the surplus but can’t due to future projections. That is a TOTAL LIE! Sexton should leave his wishes at the door and start taking action to return the surplus! See below:

Following this articles publishing, RINOs Ben Bakeberg (54B) and Scott Van Binsbergen (16A) have also sent emails that misrepresent the truth about the surplus that taxpayers are owed.
Action 4 Liberty will continue exposing the truth and fighting for the taxpayers interests. Our bloated government has become a national embarrassment and it is thanks to Uniparty. If the RINOs directed their efforts toward returning the entire surplus instead of misrepresenting budget data, conservatives (and all Minnesotans) would benefit. A4L will never waiver in our mission to protect liberty for the next generation.
