In an act of political theatre, the Minnesota House Ethics Committee met on Friday, May 1st to take up the ethics complaints against Elliott Engen, Walter Hudson, and Alex Falconer. Democrats filed complaints on Engen and Hudson for leaving their committee meeting early to go out drinking ahead of the floor session. Republicans filed a complaint on Falconer arguing that he was paid as a lobbyist while advocating for legislation supported by that lobbying firm as a state legislator.
Engen and Hudson took different approaches in their required testimony; Engen appeared to be on his best behavior while Hudson took a more defiant and arrogant approach. Engen testified alongside his attorney, Walz/Klobuchar donor Chris Madel, who was much more rabid than Engen, including when he called out Democrat Ginny Klevorn for herself and all other House Democrats no-showing at the beginning of session.
Individuals interested in the full details of Engen and Hudson’s drunken debacle, including their pre-floor session drinking at Burger Moes and Engen’s eventual DWI that night while Hudson was also in the car inebriated while carrying a firearm, can do so by reading previous A4L reporting.
In Hudson’s testimony, he excused his actions by arguing that legislators have tight schedules and skirted around many questions. When asked if he used his legislative per diem to pay for the beer and lunch he had, Hudson refused to answer! When asked how he returned to the Capitol building from lunch, Hudson said he couldn’t recall. When asked what time he went to Burger Moes, Hudson said he didn’t know.
One thing Hudson was able to remember was his food order alongside his tall boy beer: Soup… As if Minnesotans needed another reason to believe Hudson is a total weirdo!
Hudson also chose to excuse his actions by arguing that the legislative process is flawed. Of course, none of the legislative procedures forced him to day-drink ahead of the House floor session.
In a moment where Hudson pulled back the curtain, he admitted that House floor sessions are completely fake! He says arguments made on the floor do not influence how a legislator votes, instead, all of this is sorted out in backroom, closed door, private caucus meetings. See below:
I'm glad Walter Hudson admits what we've been saying for years: the Minnesota Legislature is just a scripted show. Total WWE! Why he continually participated & acted like it wasn't a scripted show up to this point, and came after those of us who called it out, I do not know. pic.twitter.com/eFn71DXZ5o

Floor sessions are completely pre-determined! The performative speeches in floor sessions during critical votes never matter. Whether the legislative body is controlled by Democrats or RINOs, the result is the same. Leadership tells the members of their party how to vote and the vast majority do as they are told.
Despite the sessions being predetermined, they have real consequences. The fact that Hudson feels they are meaningless yet has given hours upon hours of speeches on the House floor shows that he loves the sound of his own voice.
It would be better if Hudson had any credibility in using this argument because he has embraced the RINO Establishment and helped maintain the corrupt status quo. Now that he has become a detriment, he wants people to believe he suddenly realized governmental institutions are corrupt.
As seen in the 2025 A4L scorecard, this is the same guy who votes for unconstitutional omnibus bills and got a 45.83% score. This is the same guy who wants to purge anti-establishment conservatives like A4L supporters from the MNGOP. This is the same guy who threw in the towel and attacks A4L for telling legislators to oppose corruption. This is the same guy who seated radical leftist Brad Tabke despite massive election fraud. This is the same guy who rushed to the microphone to block a conservative challenger against Globalist RINO Tom Emmer from speaking at the CD6 convention.
It seems Hudson is slightly exposing what goes on at the Capitol as a subtle threat to Democrats. He is not genuinely trying to fight the Establishment, if he was, he would actually implement the political viewpoint he is expressing.
So not only are floor sessions fake, Walter is a fake too.
Some other uncomfortable truths came out in the committee meeting thanks to Chris Madel. As seen below, he exposes how state legislators are smoking weed at the “north-east exit” of the Capitol building. See below:
There are some real gems in the MN House Ethics Committee today. Here, attorney Chris Madel exposes how members of the legislature routinely use drugs at the Capitol. (Little secret - many of us know this!) 🤣 pic.twitter.com/s4IkKTwSQi

In the end, the Ethics Committee unanimously voted that there was no probable cause on the complaints against Engen, Hudson, and Falconer. This was yet another example of political theatre. The full committee meeting was divided into four videos on Youtube: 1. Engen's testimony and questioning, 2. Hudson's testimony and questioning, 3. Falconer's testimony and questioning, and 4. The Ethics Committee's decision announced after meeting privately.
Hudson even said in his testimony that he knows of "vodka shooters" that can be found "in the women's restroom off of the retiring room". What this means is this restroom, which would be predominantly if not exclusively used by female legislators, contains bottles of alcohol, seemingly consumed while session is under-way. A4L would have reason to suspect Mary Franson as a culprit since multiple sources at the Capitol have informed A4L of her alleged inebriation during floor sessions.
Action 4 Liberty will continue representing the grassroots and will be a principled, anti-establishment fighter for liberty, even when inconvenient. Hudson’s arrogant testimony may have exposed certain facts to Minnesotans who don’t know any better but his hostility toward the conservative Patriots who support A4L exposes his real intention. Hudson will continue trying to climb the ladder, A4L will continue fighting for liberty.
