The special session scheduled for tomorrow (Monday, June 9th) is set to pass 14 bills within a 24 hour time period to complete the passage of the 2nd largest budget in MN history. Many of these bills are unconstitutional omnibus packed with billions upon billions in spending or radical left policies. Legislators are being told not to speak on the floor or present amendments, blocking their ability to represent their constituents. Previous A4L reporting showed how no finalized version of bills are available and that leadership can change whatever they want, decided by them alone. Many conservatives are questioning how this happened and which RINOs are responsible. Insert RINO Paul Torkelson.
The signers on the Uniparty special session deal includes Tyrant Tim Walz, RINO Speaker Lisa Demuth, Dem House Leader Melissa Hortman, Dem Majority Leader Erin Murphy, and RINO Minority Leader Mark Johnson. However, the signers of the deal are not the culprits to blame.
RINO Paul Torkelson (15B) is a big government, liberal, 17-year incumbent career politician who has worked to undermine the leverage and power the House GOP could have in negotiations and has previously fought to legalize drivers licenses for illegal aliens on the House floor while repping a useless cloth mask on his face. At the beginning of this legislative session, the House GOP held a caucus meeting to hold intra-party leadership elections. According to our sources at the Capitol, Torkelson was Demuth’s hand-selected choice for GOP floor leader, which was halted by members demanding a vote. In this vote, Harry Niska (31A) defeated Torkelson and became the GOP floor leader.
Following Torkelson’s defeat, Demuth appointed him to be a leadership role and he has remained as her right-hand man. Sources at the Capitol tell A4L that Torkelson is the person who is truly driving the ship and steering the caucus behind the scenes, not Lisa Demuth. This has even culminated in some of the special session negotiations.
One of the bills that have reportedly been led by Torkelson include the Transportation omnibus bill. Sources at the Capitol tell A4L that RINO Jon Koznick (57A) presented the transportation bill to the House GOP caucus and admitted many of the flaws of the bill, even saying he planned to vote against it (despite being a signer on the Transportation policy agreement and the House Transportation co-chair). Koznick has publicly attacked the legislation and its non-transparent process, highlighting the $93M sales tax shift to the corrupt Met Council. When questioned by members how the bill was negotiated so poorly, Koznick reportedly shifted the blame to Paul Torkelson for leading negotiations. Sources also say Torkelson’s fingerprints are all over several other pieces of liberal omnibus bills in the special session Uniparty package.
Members have reportedly reached a boiling point with Torkelson and are fed up with his constant caving to liberal demands. While Lisa ‘Kamala’ Demuth serves as the empty-suit front woman, Torkelson has been running the show and crafting unconstitutional omnibus bills with Democrats. Some swamp creatures can be front and center while others hide and call shots behind the scenes. The failures by GOP legislative leaders will culminate into a single day session to pass unconstitutional, corrupt omnibus bills contributing to the 2nd largest budget in Minnesota history. No wonder conservative legislators feel completely shafted by the special session terms and cannot adequately represent their constituents.
Conservative legislators can FIGHT the corruption by rejecting the plans to suspend the rules and by voting against the corrupt omnibus policy and spending bills. Shutting down Walz’ government may be EXACTLY what our state needs in order to reassess out of control spending. In addition, the Uniparty special session deal does not prohibit amendments on the floor, it simply says leadership must oppose them. This means that members can and should introduce amendments to reduce spending, gut woke policies, and insert conservative policies. If you want your legislators to know this, you can find their contact info here.
Action 4 Liberty will keep Patriots up to date and will continue leading the conservative grassroots movement of our state. The corruption within our government can only be fought with exposure and A4L will never waver in the fight for limited government and to protect liberty for the next generation.
