Minnesota’s 2nd Congressional District is an open seat with incumbent, fake moderate Angie Craig, choosing not to run for reelection and is instead running for the open U.S. Senate seat. CD2 is a swing district that elected Republican Jason Lewis in 2016 and has gone Democrat since. As Minnesota’s lone swing Congress seat, this race is sure to get national attention.
The race is beginning to heat up on the Republican side as two candidates have officially announced their campaigns: 2020 and 2022 CD2 GOP nominee and U.S. Marine Corps Reserve officer Tyler Kistner and RINO state Senator Eric Pratt (SD54). Pratt officially launched his campaign on Monday, July 21st while Kistner launched his campaign on Thursday, May 15th. Kistner wasted no time in calling out Eric Pratt for his anti-Trump, RINO record as state Senator. See below:

Action 4 Liberty previously reported on Eric Pratt getting ‘LOOMERED’ for his anti-MAGA past which included a video of Pratt saying that he has never endorsed Donald Trump and wasn’t sure who he would vote for in the Presidential election. Click here or the image below to see video:
Eric Pratt is already deeply unpopular with the America First grassroots base and failed to win the GOP endorsement for state Senate in 2022 against nurse Natalie Barnes. In the Senate, Pratt has served as an example of weak, spineless Republican leadership that caves to Democrats on everything from issues to principles to process. If CD2 Republicans want a RINO in office who will vote for unconstitutional omnibus bills that hurt conservative interests while not rocking the boat for the Establishment, they should look no further than Eric Pratt.
On the other hand, Tyler Kistner has received the CD2 GOP endorsement twice and remains popular with the conservative base. In 2022, Kistner fought the establishment by endorsing then-Rep. Erik Mortensen in the GOP primary against RINO Bob Loonan. In April, CD2 Republicans elected party leadership which resulted in a victory across the board for the liberty grassroots slate along with a condemnation of RINO David Hann for paying a Kamala supporter with MNGOP funds.
The CD2 GOP is especially anti-establishment and has endured unique circumstances in previous elections. In 2024, Globalist RINO Tom Emmer puppet Joe Teirab was defeated by Angie Craig by over 13% since he failed to unify grassroots conservatives around his campaign (in 2020, Kistner lost by only 2.3% to Craig). After Teirab carpetbagged from the DC Swamp to MN CD2, he was demolished at the CD2 GOP endorsing convention and only won the primary because Emmer got Teirab’s opponent, Tayler Rahm, to quit the race. Even when Teirab was the only Republican in the race, the CD2 GOP refused to endorse him. It remains unclear if Eric Pratt will pursue a similar strategy after he inevitably loses the CD2 GOP endorsing convention.
The era of Liz Cheney style politics is over in the GOP and Eric Pratt will have to desperately run away from his record to win support. Many Patriots are looking for someone who will keep President Trump accountable to the MAGA agenda, not someone who will fight against it! While America First conservatives still desire more from Trump (including correcting the botched control of the Epstein Files and Congress' failure to act), there is no doubt that the conservative base is not looking for a RINO who has spent his career serving the Establishment.
Quitter Tayler Rahm and Emmer puppet Joe Teirab remain potential candidates in this race according to the Star Tribune. On the Democrat side, former state Senator Matt Little and current state Senator Matt Klein (SD53) are announced candidates. Action 4 Liberty will keep Patriots updated on this race as it develops.

Of course, there are different definitions of RINO. One definition is a legislator who gets less than 75% of the average rating for Republicans in conservative scoring of votes on bills. If you look at the Republicans in Minnesota’s Congressional delegation, they are solidly average according to the CPAC ratings – all around 83%. When they get dinged by CPAC, it’s almost always because they voted for the final version of spending or borrowing bills.
If we are ever going to improve the rating of our Representatives, we’ll have to educate the voters on the nature and benefits of enforcing our Tenth Amendment right to a limited federal government. We’ll have to dispel the myths that “promote/provide for the General Welfare” authorize anything Congress thinks will promote the general welfare, or that anything goes under the power to “regulate commerce among the several states.” Both are misconstructions of the Constitution. When that’s done, we’ll have to point out that almost all federal grants to schools, local governments and states are in violation of the Constitution, and so are grants to NGOs.. Not only are those grants often easy pickings for fraudsters, but they hide the true cost of government from the taxpayers. Can we get a handout on this issue ready for the State Fair?
