Following a closed door meeting featuring Tim Walz, Lisa Demuth, and Democrat legislative leaders to discuss giving Minnesota hundreds of millions to billions of dollars worth of debt to fund pet projects for politicians, Empty Suit Lisa 'Kamala' Demuth said she was “encouraged by the levels of alignment” she was in with her fishing buddy Tim Walz and Democrats. Democrat House leader Zack Stephenson also stated that a debt bill was a priority for all in the meeting. See below:
Lisa Demuth stood right by Stephenson and did not dispute what he said. This confirms what A4L has been warning about: Demuth is not governing like a conservative and will help advance the Democrat’s big government agenda. The bonding bill is the typical tool of crony politicians to give the state debt to fund various pet projects. While most normal people do not spend money when they run out, the government goes in debt to keep taxes and spending high.
The day before this meeting, GOP legislators attempted to impeach Walz and Ellison. Demuth has refused to take a position on it.
As seen in previous A4L reporting, Tim Walz’ bonding plan includes demolishing the historic Centennial Building years early with an estimated 80% of material going to be scrapped instead of giving it immediate reuse, increasing security at the Capitol, and renovating buildings to give politicians/bureaucrats cushier offices. He also wants to spend over $5.5M repainting some windows at the Capitol, though his plan decides to steal it from the general fund.
Tim Walz is looking to benefit crooked politicians and bureaucrats as one of his final moves as Governor! This should be rejected outright as an unserious proposal. Minnesota taxpayers are struggling and crooked politicians are prioritizing their office space above them.
Notably absent from this meeting was GOP Senate Leader Mark Johnson (SD1). Sources at the Capitol tell A4L that Johnson was not invited so he grabbed a baseball glove and went outside by Walz’ office windows to play catch.
A bonding bill requires 3/5ths support of both chambers in order to pass. A simple majority does not cut it and the vote would have to be bipartisan due to the tied house and one seat Democrat Senate majority. By excluding the GOP Senate from negotiations, they have no incentive to go along with the Walz/Demuth secret agenda. If Senate Republicans stand strong and oppose the disrespectful power-grab by Demuth and Democrats, MN may be able to avoid more debt.
As seen in the clip above, when Demuth was asked for details on what bonding bill projects the GOP was prioritizing, she refused to answer and would not give specifics! She refuses to give transparency over the closed-door meeting with Tim Walz and is still trying to fool people into thinking she is a conservative in her Governor campaign.
In a previous press conference, Demuth stated that MN "doesn’t have money right now and that is a choice that was made over time” however she leaves out that SHE was the one who made the choice to waste away our tax dollars! Demuth voted for every single bill in 2025 that was signed into law by Walz and it amounted to the 2nd LARGEST budget in MN history with new projections showing cost will total $70.2B.
Minnesota Management and Budget (MMB) has set a maximum amount of $1.1B that can be bonded this year. In 2025, RINOs and Democrats passed a $700M bonding bill and that was the maximum amount they could put our state in debt. Walz, Demuth, and Democrats are likely looking to spend every penny they can so we should not be shocked if they try to give MN over a billion dollars worth of debt.
