Democrats to Add 5th Income Tax Bracket

Tax-and-Spend Democrats are on a mission to drive every job-creator and business-owner out of the state. In their latest budget proposal, they tack on excess taxes and fees to ensure they do that very thing. Among their newest proposals is a 5th income tax bracket.

As it currently stands, the highest tax rate in Minnesota is 9.85% for individuals making upwards of $183,340 a year. Under Rep. Kaohly Vang Her’s proposal, a fifth income tax bracket would be created and tax individuals 10.85% for an income over $600,000 a year.

This is not the only tax increase that Democrats have offered. They are also pushing a metro sales tax increase, and a vehicle tab fee increase

Consider that Minnesotans of all incomes are already fleeing the state in record numbers. According to the US Census Bureau, 19,400 Minnesota residents left the state from 2021-2022.

Give these individuals (who have likely built and contributed to the local economy) reasons to leave, and they most certainly will. Minnesota’s immediate neighbors like Iowa and Wisconsin are much more friendly to taxpayers. South Dakota doesn’t even have an income tax!

When people leave our state, Democrats will just continue to raise taxes to make up for that lost income. Nevermind that Minnesota just brought in a record-shattering budget surplus. Democrats will still be inclined to raise taxes anyway!

If this passes, it will likely never be repealed. When Democrats introduced a 4th income tax bracket in 2012, Republicans failed to make a serious effort at repeal. The same is likely to be true with this 5th bracket.

That’s why you need to call your state senator and tell them to vote against any and all tax increases. It is the only chance we have to save our state. Find your state senator here.

Searching for Maddi Kingsbury

Tragedy has hit us close to home. A loving young mother of two from Winona went missing on Friday, March 31st shortly after dropping her children off at daycare.

Her name is Madeline Kingsbury, or Maddi, for short. I've never met Maddi, but I'm friends with some of her family members and they describe her as a kind hearted, hard working, smart young woman who loves her children. Her sudden disappearance from home where a cell phone, purse, and coat remained is a mystery to family and the community. Temperatures that day were in the low 30s with a mixture of rain/snow in the area - so leaving home purposely without a coat and other items seems highly unlikely.

Sequence of events

On Friday morning, Maddi logged into work remotely at 7:20 AM. She worked as a clinical research coordinator at Mayo in Rochester. At 8:03 AM, her and the father of her children, Adam Fravel, dropped their children off at daycare. Megan Kingsbury, Maddi's sister, texted with her at 8:13 AM and that was the last communication anyone outside of her residence had with her.

Adam told authorities that he was with Maddi from daycare drop-off until about 10:00 am, before heading out to run errands for about an hour. When he returned, she was no longer there according to his statements.

(Image of Maddi with Adam and one of their children)

When Maddi didn't return phone calls or texts and wasn't present at daycare pick up, a friend called the Winona PD to do a well check. It was unlike her to not communicate or be there for her children.

Police say they have video of a van that fit the description of Maddi's, a 2014 Dark Blue Chrysler Town & Country minivan, traveling from Winona down to Rushford along Hwy 43 and then again traveling back to Winona in a timeframe between 10 am and 1:30 pm.

The van remained at the residence from 1:30 pm beyond. Both Maddi's residence and the van have been searched by law enforcement. Details of what that search are not being publicly released at this time.

Below is an image of the route between Winona and Rushford. Google Maps estimates the distance would take 26 minutes to drive.

What makes this case interesting, and is the massive elephant in the room, is that Adam is from Mabel, MN, which is just south of Rushford along the Iowa border. The primary search area appears to be the rural, wooden area between Rushford and Mabel, even though we are not aware of any evidence showing the van being spotted south of Rushford.

Here's a look of that terrain and the area that had a large search effort on Saturday:

A complicated relationship with Maddi has led many to speculate he is behind her disappearance. If he was behind it, did he take her to an area that he grew up and knew well? The remoteness of parts of Fillmore County would allow someone to move in the middle of the day and not be detected by many people.

In my view, law enforcement clearly sees him as the main suspect since the search area is focused on where he grew up and where his family still resides. The children were removed from his custody since last Tuesday, which makes things even more suspicious. But of course, this is pure speculation at this point. We don't know.

Amazing Show of Support for Maddi

On Good Friday (April 7th), an estimated 1,800 people came out to help with the search efforts. By Saturday, two volunteer locations were set up (Winona Fire Station and Rushford HS) with buses to transport people to search areas. Many more scoured the bluff country looking for any signs, including myself, who was visiting family across the river in Wisconsin.

The problem is the search area covered a geographical area that encompassed eastern Fillmore county, with many rural roads and large blocks of wooded forests and steep, hills that make up the iconic bluff country. The majority of the land is privately owned, with state forests and Wildlife Management Areas making up a small portion. Finding clues in an area like this is like finding a needle in a haystack.

Family and law enforcement are at a crossroad right now. No known crime has been committed at this point and more evidence is needed in order to dwindle down the search area. Any clues or RING camera footage from residents in the area would be a tremendous help at this stage. The family has offered a $50,000 reward for information that leads to finding Maddi.

‘Trans 8-Year-Old’ and Family Leaving Florida for Minnesota

BusinessInsider recently ran a profile on a mother and her 8 year-old “transgender daughter’, and their newfound fear of the Florida and its policies.

According to the interview, Amanda Denis began to transition their son when he told them that "My brain tells me I'm a girl."

At the time, the boy was 4 years old. Regardless, the family went and bought him clothes for a girl almost immediately.

Florida's SB 254 prompted the family to move. Under this proposal, Courts can temporarily assume custody based on a parent's support for genital-mutilation surgery (AKA, "gender-affirming care").

The Denis family chose Minnesota because it will soon be a “transgender sanctuary state.” Meaning Minnesota will protect parents who decide to force sterilization and life-altering surgeries on their kids.

Amanda set up a GoFundMe page with a goal of raising $10,000, supposedly to help with the move to Minnesota. As of writing, the campaign has already raised $7,450.

The Minnesota House of Representatives has already passed HF146/SF63  - the trans sanctuary bill - and Governor Walz has indicated that he intends to sign it. It is expected to be debated in the Minnesota Senate, where it is possible that it could stall and even fail.

Minnesota Democrats have a narrow one-seat majority in the Senate, and four Senators who just barely won their elections in 2022. Help Minnesota reject child endangerment by calling these Senators and demand that they vote against SF63. Use their contact info below.

Minnesota on Cusp of Genital-Mutilation Surgery Spike

Dr. Oren Ganor, the co-director of the Center for Gender Surgery at Boston Children’s Hospital, recently co-wrote an article that argued for increased training efforts for gender-affirming surgeries, particularly for minors. In the article, he expressed concern that some states are working to protect children from genital mutilation, which could lead to increased demand for these services in states that encourage this medical malpractice, like Minnesota.

Democrats are trying to make Minnesota a "sanctuary state" for trans surgeries, meaning that no court order or law in another state can stop parents from forcing their children to transition in Minnesota.

Many remain skeptical of the safety and efficacy of gender-affirming surgeries for minors. Critics argue that children and teenagers do not have the cognitive and emotional maturity to understand the consequences of such irreversible procedures fully. Furthermore, some studies suggest that gender dysphoria may resolve on its own without the need for medical intervention.

The long-term effects of hormone therapy and surgeries on minors are not fully understood. Experts warn of potential health risks, including infertility, sexual dysfunction, and increased risk of cancer and cardiovascular disease. It is also important to note that so-called “gender-affirming” surgeries do not result in improved mental health outcomes and may even lead to regret or detransition.

If Democrats make Minnesota a trans sanctuary state, there is no doubt that gender clinics in Minnesota will make money from a spike of gender dysphoric patients coming here. In the Minnesota Senate, Democrats only carry a one-seat majority. For the sake of protecting children in Minnesota, please reach out to your elected officials and tell them to oppose this horrific legislation.

HHS Omnibus Funds All Abortions; ‘Gender-Affirming’ Care

The Action 4 Liberty team is currently reviewing HF 2930, the Heath and Human Services Omnibus Bill. The latest version, which is being put together in committee, includes many of the worst provisions of HF 91 – including complete taxpayer funding of abortion under MinnesotaCare.

The lines underlined mean they are being added to state statutes. The words that are crossed off mean they are being removed from state statutes.

Abortion is not only thing fully funded under MinnesotaCare. Now, your tax dollars will be going towards “Gender-Affirming Surgeries.”

The proposed legislation is over 500 pages long, so the team is still reviewing some of the worst of what Democrats have to offer. Stay tuned for updates this coming week.

Democrat Omnibus Bill Harbors Extreme Gun Control

Democrats in the Minnesota House are likely to push through their Public Safety Omnibus Bill, which harbors extreme gun control measures. Our team has covered some of these provisions in past articles.

HF 2890, introduced by Representative Kelly Moller, has some extreme gun control measures tucked into the bill. These include:

  • Giving Sheriffs the ability to deny gun permits
  • Universal background checks for all gun transfers
  • Red Flag Laws
  • “Large-capacity” magazine bans

Omnibus bills are intentionally long and difficult to read. Use this article as a guide to understanding how the left is trying to take away your Second Amendment rights.

May Issue Rule

Sec. 3. Minnesota Statutes 2022, section 624.7131, subdivision 4, will be amended to allow your local sheriff to deny you a permit to carry. If you live in the seven-county metro, you better believe that some of these liberal sheriffs will be denying a lot of permits.

Universal Background Checks

As you may know, background checks on gun purchases are already done through the FBI. This provision in Section 13 would add another level of background checks done at the state level. Worse yet, all gun transfers need to be recorded and approved by the state. This includes lending your firearm to a friend or family member.

Red Flag Law

A left-wing dream, Democrats are placing “extreme risk protection orders” into state law. In Section 19, a Judge would be allowed to order the confiscation of firearms before due process can take place. Got a crazy ex or a disgruntled associate? They can call into the police and say that you are a threat, which would allow them to come and take your firearms almost immediately.

Prohibition of Large-Capacity Magazines

Section 14 prohibits the manufacture, import, or transfer of a rifle with a magazine over ten rounds. A handgun is limited to less than fifteen rounds.

If you cherish your Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms, you’ll want to demand that legislators reject this legislation. Funnily enough, this extreme gun language is absent in the Senate version of this proposal.

Do not be fooled.

Though vulnerable Senate Democrats may not vote on gun control in their version of the Public Safety Omnibus Bill, it will almost certainly be negotiated into the final language after both bodies usher it through the legislature.

Democrats have a six-seat majority in the Minnesota House. In the Senate, there is only a one-seat Democrat majority.

That’s why you must contact vulnerable Democrat legislators NOW. Let them know that you know the truth about their tactics and that it won’t let them off the hook come the next election.

Politicians Eager to Impose Local Sales Taxes

Before a city or township has the legal ability to levy a sales tax, they must first ask for permission from the Minnesota legislature. Despite having among the highest tax burden in the nation, state legislators in both parties are now moving legislation to grant these requests.

36 of these requests have been made this year in the legislature, ranging anywhere from .25% to 1.5% in each city. While this does not sound like a lot, it is expected to bring in additional millions of dollars for each city per year.

Combine that with the proposed .25% sales tax on residents of the seven-county metro area, and your wallet will notice a change – fast.

There is an argument to be made that local government is the best government, and that they should have the option to increase taxes if they want to. This argument ignores the fact that, again, Minnesota already burdens its citizenry with excessive taxes.

With a $17+ Billion budget surplus, there should be absolutely zero talks of increasing taxes, whether it be on a state, county, or city level. Most of these localities are already demanding their pet projects be put into the debt bill (aka, bonding bill), anyway.

If tax increases can be stopped, they should be stopped. Contact your state legislators and tell them to vote against tax increases in any and every form.

Isanti County Passes Resolution Nullifying Unconstitutional Gun Laws

On Tuesday, Isanti County became the latest county to pass a Second Amendment sanctuary resolution, thanks to the efforts of local grassroots activists and Action 4 Liberty.

Introduced by Commissioner Alan Duff, the “Second Amendment Dedicated County Resolution” sought to nullify any unconstitutional gun grabs initiated by Democrats in St. Paul.

When the resolution was first considered back in March, both A4L activists and grassroots conservatives packed the room in support of the Second Amendment.

Yesterday, the Isanti County Board of Commissioners voted 3-2 to pass the resolution. This is despite efforts from the County Attorney to encourage a strongly-worded letter to Democrat legislators, instead. Nevertheless, Commissioner Duff pushed forward with his resolution.

Watch Video of the Vote

The resolution affirms the county's commitment to uphold the Second Amendment and resist any attempts to infringe on the constitutional rights of its citizens.

The passage of the resolution comes amid a nationwide debate over gun rights and gun control. In recent years, several states and counties have passed similar resolutions, declaring themselves Second Amendment sanctuaries and pledging to resist any attempts to infringe on the right to keep and bear arms.

Democrats in St. Paul are hell-bent on getting Universal Background Checks and Red Flag Laws passed into law. Regardless of that outcome, Isanti County residents can rest assured that their county is committed to upholding their constitutional rights.

Hamline President Bows to Woke Students; Resigns

Hamline University's President, Dr. Fayneese Miller, has announced her retirement, effective next year, amid controversy surrounding a fired adjunct professor. The professor showed students a painting that depicted the prophet Muhammed, which offended Muslims in the Hamline Community.

Miller fired the professor -- it's unclear what more she could have done. Regardless, woke activists made her a target.

The controversy over Miller's handling of the incident has highlighted the growing trend of left-wing students attempting to silence voices that they disagree with on college campuses across the country. Instead of promoting diversity of thought and free speech, left-wing students attempt to impose their narrow ideological views on the university community.

This trend is particularly troubling in light of recent incidents of cancel culture, which has resulted in the silencing of dissenting voices and the stifling of free speech and academic freedom.

The decision by Miller to retire in the face of left-wing pressure sets a dangerous precedent and undermines the university's commitment to free speech and diversity of thought. It is essential that universities across the country stand up to left-wing pressure and protect the fundamental principles of academic freedom and free speech. Only by doing so can we ensure that our universities remain a place where all voices are heard and the pursuit of truth and knowledge can flourish.

Democrat Legislators Give Walz and Ellison Pay Raise From Surplus Cash

The Minnesota Democrat Party is good at looking after their own. Now that they have total control of the state government, they are giving their elected officials pay bumps across the board.

MPR News reports that the Compensation Council has recommended pay hikes for both state legislators and statewide elected officials. Member of the Compensation Council are appointed by Governor Walz.

The Council recommends a 9.0% pay increase on July 1st, 2023; and a 7.5% pay increase on July 1st, 2024 for all statewide offices. Minnesota state legislators, however, already approved a 7.25% pay increase for themselves in March. It’s not hard to see them easily greenlighting the increase for Governor Walz, Attorney General Ellison, and their other crony friends.

Don’t forget that taxpayers are on the hook for Tim Walz’s rental home in sunfish lake, which costs about $17,000 per month!

Of course, all of this money comes from YOUR budget surplus in St. Paul. If the Democrats have their way this legislative session, you can be sure that all $17 billion will be gone.

Thankfully, there are still a few months left of this session. It’s not too late to demand that your legislators do their job and give the taxpayers their money back. Call and email your state representative and state senator immediately.
